Damn, I hate seeing a player out due to illness/injury. I know he was voted out, but still that sucks. I liked Gerry. I am really really really disliking Coach. What an arrogant SOB. Did you see his intro picture?

Jalapao is really coming together and I think they will continue to dominate for awhile.

I got the sense that Jerry, despite his protestations to the contrary, was pretty much ready to pack it in.

"Coach" is indeed an ass but that is no doubt what helped him to get a call back for the cast. It would seem unlikely that he will last much longer but stranger things have happened in this game. But that tribe does seem to be in complete disarray so if they keep going to tribal the odds of him getting the boot seem good. Especially if he remains useless in challenges as he has appears to be so far.

Coach = cast to be the jerk he is, as has already been said.

Somehow, maybe because I never seriously wanted to play the Survivor game, it doesn't bother me as much as on some other shows that all the parts are cast.

I read with surprise that that nice Asian-American computer whiz person who made it pretty far in a previous episode was recruited, he didn't even try out for the show; apparently they want to cast some sympathetic people, but not a lot. They figure they'll be gone in the 1st few rounds anyway. And a sympathetic person won the show Asian-American guy went far on. An older sympathetic person.

I recall Older Sympathetic Person actually won the last Survivor, too.

I would bet that the casting people want a few sympathetic people in there, but they want them to get voted out quickly.

Gerry was so sick I couldn't really tell if he'd be sympathetic or not, because he hardly said or did anything. Its interesting; I had watched episode #2 before I was able to watch the 1st half of episode #1, in which its revealed he's a military officer. I would have thought he'd out-coach coach. But he did say, in one of his few talks to the camera, that his plan was to lie low. Being sick was too low, though.

Also notice: Gerry & Sandy were/are the oldest people in this batch, & Sandy plays herself as way too much of a character to be sympathetic to me. TPTB clearly are tired of older &/or sympathetic winners.

I know I watched this one - it was so boring, I couldn't have told you who was voted off.

I know, me too! I was going to comment and ask if I missed an episode! But you're right it was boring and I have zero memory of it!

Don't know if TPTB or necessarily tired of old/sympathetic winners. They only want someone who draws ratings I should think. Bob proved to be very popular last year and won despite being old/sympathatic because he also played well (and got lucky on several occasions as almost all winners must).

Was looking at who was recruited and who applied for this season. 11 of the 16 were recruited (Debra kind of counts as half. She applied way back for season 2 but was recruited for this season).

JT and Sandy, as best I can tell, applied. Surprisingly so did Coach and the now eliminated Candace, both of whom seem more like the type to be recruited. The youngest player, Spencer, appears to be a last minute replacement as someone else withdrew at the last second for medical reasons. Not sure if he was recruited or applied although I am guessing he applied as he purports to be an avid fan.

I tend to want to see those who applied go deep so JT gets an extra boost as my favorite at the present time. I don't think Sandy will make it much longer and I don't think I could pull for "Coach" even if he wasn't recruited.

It's so sad that I DVR directly to Tribal Council now.

Ouch. That is sad.

I am thinking that might be in my future.

Well, perhaps what is sad is those of us who don't do that...

What is sadder is those of us who don't do that and sit through 3 hours of dvr'd The Bachelor.

And plans to see tonight's as well.

I really want some couple to work out.

Well, I didn't Tivo it and zip straight to Tribal Council! In fact I thought it was a decent episode. The old standard with the weight bar is still a good challenge and Taj proved her metal by outlasting Debbie. Debbie also did well considering she was probably holding her body weight.

The immunity challenge was another puzzle based one which I like over the sheer physical challenges but I kinda wish the other tribe had lost just to watch them implode further and that Coach gets to hang around another week.

Seemed pretty clear whacky Sandy was getting the ax despite some effort to make viewers think the guys were going to vote Sydney off. As if.

But Sandy was at least entertaining so I probably would have kept her.

Will be interesting to see how the "secret alliance" gets outed and if it can hold together.

I am still watching the whole episode.

I had to think who got voted off this week.

I wonder if she had been less of an annoyance if it would have gone differently or if they are just always going to vote off the old lady.

They didn't vote of the old man last time.

I watched the episode in real time this week.

I would like that hour of my life back.

I have developed a 'tude about the show after the 'casting' part has been revealed.

Even though TPTB 'cast' from the videos received/auditions previously, the blatant casting just leaves a sour taste for me.

It's no longer "Survivor," it's become another "No MAWGS in blue shirts" show.

Got it, thanks.

I would be more likely to excuse the casting if I was truly entertained.

I am not so much entertained.
