The Capitol Power Plant, a 99-year-old facility that heats and cools the hallowed halls of Congress, still burns coal and accounts for one-third of the legislative branch's greenhouse gas emissions. For a decade, lawmakers have attempted to clean it up.
But Congress is running out of options to make the plant fully green. On Friday the House announced that it was abandoning its goal to be carbon neutral and would no longer buy offsets to make sure it was removing as much carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as it releases. Those offsets were key to zeroing out the remaining emissions at the power plant that could not be reduced by other means.

According to a February 17 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, investment funds managed by Soros own more than $112 million worth of stock in Arch Coal and CONSOL Energy — the third and fifth largest coal companies in the U.S. Other SEC filings indicate that Soros began investing in coal during 2008 — hardly an auspicious time for such investment. Not only did the stock values of coal companies fall sharply, but the future of coal use in the U.S. became less certain. Since 2006, climate activists have pressured state regulators to deny permits for 83 coal-fired power plants.

On the contrary- Soros understands that soon the use of coal will go higher, not lower...contrary to what environmentalists would like to think.
And do not think that just Soros knows it.
Obama himself is a big proponent of coal-to-liquids, which is about as green and energy efficient as I am a fan of the Baltimore Ravens. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that Illinois has much of the nation's coal reserves.
More "change we need".

I suppose it is arguable that the run-up in the Canadian dollar to at one point $1.10 American only killed the export industries which would have died now in the downturn, but the Oilsands are what is left. To the U.S., to China, whatever. The United States has lots of good friends in the Middle East and in South America who would be glad to make up the difference. Or perhaps the next war will be in Venezuela.

This bothers me less than the 500-600 people he took with him to London. (Disclaimer: This number includes up to 200 Secret Service agents. As a taxpayer, I don't mind paying for security for the President. I do mind providing working vacations for speech writers, assistants to assistants, and many others who could have provided their advice and services via e-mail and telephone.)

since 2001, there have been zero articles in scientific journals denying global warming or that humans are causing the world to warm
around 50% of articles on the subject in the mass media report there are doubts on the subject.
i would like to see a rise of 4 degrees in the mid atlantic region before any action is taken
