Sorry about missing FNGD last night.


In return, then, a game for today, taken directly from yesterday's "Des Chiffres et Des Lettres" as broadcast on TV-5, the Francophone cultural channel, which emphasizes French from France stuff.

The game was on at 2AM, when I awoke from my beauty sleep, because it had been preempted earlier by the Cesars, the French version of the Oscars - a much better show, as they still buy the old-fashioned hokum, long gone from the American one , which cannot avoid being mostly a three-hour infomercial.

SO: the challenge is to find two words, French ones to be sure, at least according to Bertrand the word maven acceptably so. Two words, or names, which together make up nine letters. (NB for a number of reasons including the modern French penchant for borrowing Anglicisms, these clues I am posting will in fact be OK for you guys..)

( Before posting the actual clues, let me give an illustrative example., we know the French love rock and roll, so if the clue hinted towards the names of rock stars from Britain, and the "tirage" of letters was:

ONNIGJHRO, it would be solved as JOHN and RINGO.)

( 1 ) - First clue and selection of letters, from a "telespectatrice" in Normandy:

Town in Normandy, and an often-associated food: TCNEEAIRP

( 2 ) - Second clue and selection of letters, source missed by me, as I watched.

Communication in our time: FGLRMBOOU.

NB one small step: Bertrand is actually the math maven, and Ariel reads and does most of the word stuff, but Bertrand has the biggest dictionary.
