Very cool recordings of Monk/Overton working out charts

ie, orchestrations (wouldn't fit in title space) for sessions they did way back when (Feb 1959)
are now available.
The photographer brought a tape recorder too (for some reason) & the musicians let them keep it on (even more amazing).
I wouldn't even begin to claim this is my favorite music, but I love listening to the thinking behind this stuff, especially orchestrations for jazz; they have to leave enough space for spontaneity, but they clearly do "know where they're going" in the orchestration stage.
Available from the Smithsonian in some form.
An NPR story, of course.
Why am I here?
A ton of work thrown at me Friday after lunch. By people doing their "Friday cleanup", I guess.
