...You ever go to these lengths for authenticity?

I am currently involved in a production in which appears a NYC Fire Captain dress uniform from Sept. 2001. I spent several hours on the web looking at pictures. I ordered many of the buttons and the hat from fire supply companies but found the jacket on Ebay. Someone bid against me (WHO else needs one!?!) but I prevailed and when it arrived, it fit the actor perfectly. I spoke with a friend who is a fire captain, i watched film and videos that included NYC fire officers in dress uniform and visited a website chat area for firefighters and a couple guys answered a few questions I had about the bugle insignia and the maltese cross.

I understand this article....but its what everyone does when faced with historical accuracy. It is not extreme or unusual, IMHO. (Oh, and i am not getting paid for my troubles....can this fellow say as much?)
