WWTBAM Bored

Holy cow! I really wish I had recorded today's show. One of the early easy questions asked about a 1980s horror film called "Mongrel." (Yes, the title refers to a dog. Or does it?) Okay, so what writer dug up this obscure film? It was released straight to video and never developed much of a following.

"Mongrel" was directed by one of the closest friends of my life, Robert A. Burns, who died almost five years ago. He would be astonished to see that someone remembered his work and wrote a question about it for WWTBAM. I'm still stunned and amazed. I walk past the old house where the film was shot all the time, in my neighborhood.

Would anyone here be willing to make a copy of today's show for me, or at least save a still image with that question, or post a YouTube video? I'd love to show it to some of Robert's family and friends. Thanks.

I went to IMDb to check out this film and saw this film under other the recommended films:

Although that was your friend's only directing/writing credit, he served as art director on a number of classic or cult horror movies of that era, including the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes.

He seems like a very interesting person.

I have it set to record automatically - although sometimes it fails (rare but sometimes) - so baring any failure I can have a disk with the show for you in a day or so - and no mailing fees!

I also record each show. My machine is reliable, but the local air schedule is not. Tuesday's show was bumped, as will be tomorrow's show. That means that today's (Thursday's show) will be the first of 2 make-up airings on Saturday.

Let me know if Jay is not able to provide a copy, and I could do so. From your original e-mail, it sounds like you'd prefer video of the entire exchange (or show) to just screen shots of the question and answers. The latter would be simple to do low-tech with the DVR on freeze-frame and a digital camera. Those could be e-mailed immediately.

Estonut, thanks a lot for the offer. Jay says he's got the show recorded and can make me a copy, and he lives just across town from me, so that's probably the easiest solution. If it's easy for you to snap a digital photo of the freeze frame and e-mail it to me quickly, that would be excellent. If not, don't worry about it.
