Idol Chatter - 2/26

Once again a fairly easy selection AFAIC; The guys
Adam
and the girls
Alison
.
Although,
Mishavonna was a very close second in the girls and may get the third-highest vote. For the guys, there wasn't even a close second to Adam. To take a tired classic like Satisfaction and turn it into a song worth watching him sing, was classic. Forget the "over-the-topness" I liked it. As for Alison, that song will get me to cast my vote for whoever sings it if it's done well. And, while I did not think she was quite at the level of Carrie Underwood (despite what you might think of Carrie Underwood), I thought it was done well. I think Matt has a shot to either get the third highest vote tonight or get a wild card down the road. The rest, for me, were pretty forgettable. I think Megan has the look but not the voice. Watch out for the VFTW crowd with Nick. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

I went to bed early. I was so bored.
I watched the last two this morning.
Not a huge fan of anyone.
I am emotionally rooting for the welder. Don't think it will make a difference.
Adam is too......... something.

I missed most of the show since we went out last night to celebrate Rain Man and my s-i-l's birthdays. I don't think I missed much.
I came in for Kai and didn't feel the love, so I herded the kids off to bed. Listened to Mishavonna but didn't watch. She sounded good, but nothing extraordinary.
Adam was a showy hot mess. Not much voice under all the staginess. If he was the best of the night, it was a crappy night. I was rooting for Jesse and her clip was good enough for me to vote for her.
I predict Adam for the "men" and Alison for the women. Third place tossup between Jesse and Megan.

What is the name of the blond with the long hair and tatoo?
I sort of liked her.
Or maybe it was just the song choice.

Adam was easily the best male performance of the night, and that wasn't saying much. Matt was good but boring, and I'm as tired of Nick's schtick as Simon as. Why on earth did the other three judges put him through to the semifinals, did Paula share some of her drugs with them??? There is no chance in hell of him every being a successful recording artist. He might have a future as a Las Vegas lounge act, but that's it. The other guys were just plain forgettable.
I think Allison has the edge of the other women. The show was rather lifeless until she came on. I liked Mishovanna's singing, but the judges dumped all over it. If she doesn't advance, I hope she gets another shot in the wild card round. Megan might also have a shot at advancing, although that big old tattoo on her arm sticks out like a sore thumb against her pale skin and blonde hair. The other female performances were forgettable.
So far, there haven't been any real "wow" performances in the two weeks. I think Adam has the best handle so far on modernizing a song, similar to what David Cook did last season. He has a pop star look, although he looks like he just stepped out of a time machine from the 80s. Of the two weeks, I would rate him as the #1 prospect, Danny #2. None of the women have really stood out yet.

I'm sorry, but I just do not get all the love for Adam. He and Nick/Normund were equally over the top, but at least Nick was in it for the laughs...Adam was actually SERIOUS, which is scary. Whenever they can, the judges make a point of telling contestants not to be so Broadway, not to be so theatrical, but put a pretty-boy that the teenage girls can swoon over in the perfect situation to be given that lecture, and they fawn all over him. He was screechy, off-key, over-the-top prancing, and one of my least-favorite performances EVER.
I really liked the chick who sang "Alone" especially since I didn't think she'd be able to pull it off. SHE has rock chops; Adam's just a poseur.

I just read someone describing Adam as "all persona, no person" and that about sums it up for me.

I, for one, have always like Glam-rock. Even though it is a bit passe, it is fun to watch. And, he seems to fit right in there. He was a lot more enjoyable to watch than the other stiffs that were on.

If you can, find a clip of David Cook singing "Happy Together" from last season. It was his first song in the semis, and it
sucked. (In this year's format, David would never have advanced to the finals.) Adam certainly wasn't the best vocals of the night, but I think there is something similar between Adam and David, and Adam looks like the only one with any real stage presence so far. Almost all of the semifinalists can sing well, it's just a matter of finding which ones can be
stars. I definitely think Adam is worth seeing in the finals. The ones who just stand there and sing like they finally got up the nerve to sing at the karaoke bar, no. Unless they have some
amazing vocals, it's going to be forgettable.

I guess the problem is that I don't like David Cook. Too much makeup and jewelry and he's so costumey and wannabe. At least Adam is a theater queen, so with him it's more okay to me. But he still didn't sing well.

Mini, will you marry me?
The only reason I rooted for Cook last year was because Archie was 100x worse. I will admit that he grew on me, but my personal favorite was Brooke White.
