I am loving this season so far!!! And next week's preview looks pretty good too.

Me too. The teams are so distinct from each other it makes it easy to watch and interesting to follow. Plus nice to see them go from country to country very rapidly this season.

The legs do seem to be a bit shorter so far - the first team was heading to the Pit Stop with half the show still to be shown. I'm not surprised that the hillbillies were eliminated; I'm sure the wrong turn that she took coming down the mountain took a lot of time. I am surprised, though, that he didn't rant and rave at her. But now that the two teams I was rooting against are gone, it's time to amp up the rootage for the Keisha and Jen team.

I want to do the day they had on last night's show! Paragliding down that mountain and then driving a Segway over an obstacle course? Outstanding!
But seeing all those Bavarian cream pies go to waste was a dessert tragedy of epic proportions!

Without knowing how long the obstacle course was or how long it would take, I would have chosen the pies. I know they are stable over uneven ground, but I don't know how fast they go and what the course had in store...whereas looking for something in pies just seems like you could move fast. Plus, I just love baked goods. Having ridden segways several times in the past and being very comfortable with them I would have certainly chosen that first. My girlfriend has done the same although she might have been less comfortable. But we would have done what I wanted... 
Looking for something in a bunch of pies sounded like a potentially long task. Turns out it did not appear to be the case although with editing that is hard to tell.
It was nice the husband did not give his wife a difficult time when she was late and they got knocked out but could he have been more blubbery at the end? I know the race can be emotionally draining but jeez, Louise! In any case they had no chance and were fairly annoying so it was fine for them to go.
The blondie stews are next on my list although the sisters, Kisha & Jen, are quickly moving up to a close second on my "to go" list. The Asian siblings, Tammy & Victor, look to be a strong team if they don't have a major meltdown as was suggested in the preview but if they do they could win a spot on my to go list as well. The Mom and deaf son team seem to have potential although right now I have to pull for Brad and Victoria since they are closer to my reality if I were to compete (like that is ever going to happen!). I would think the stunt jockeys might be competitive as well but they seem fairly casual about it so far.
Despite coming in second last night I am not sure Mike and Mel can hang for the long haul and while they could be contenders I won't shed a tear if Barbie and Ken, I mean Amanda and Kris, stumble along the way.
And of course "Red Squared", while probably not likely to win, remains a favorite team from a, umm, visual aspect...

I would think that if Linda and her husband had not been last, they would have been penalized in some fashion for not following the instructions. That girl, I am sorry, is dumb as bricks.
I loved how Margie would not give into Luke and bail on the pie thing once they started. Good for her.

Yes, I agree. I don't think it would have been the mega penalty for just skipping a challenge, probably the 30 minute wait we've seen when people don't follow instructions. I have a feeling they were pretty far behind too, it would have taken a long time to go that far out of the way and then have to wait for the ride and everything. They are the short guys. I know I heard two nicknames that made me cringe when I heard them and then giggle. I think one was The Little Men, but I am not sure.sunflower wrote:Yes, I agree. That said- she missed ONE arrow. Would that really have gotten a penalty? (My wife said the same thing- said she thought they'd get a penalty).

It's hard to know for sure, but she did ride in a car, which was not part of the instructions, I bet. I think so, because she didn't complete the challenge properly, she was supposed to walk to the bottom and meet up with her partner and get the next clue. Instead she ended up getting a ride back, which I think is the big violation. People have been told to take cabs or not take cabs, and if they end up in the same place but didn't follow the directions, they're penalized. BTW, is it just me, or are they showing the marker arrows that lead to the clues on camera a lot more frequently?
I remember the first few years I watched the show (as a casual fan), I always marevelled how easily they would find the clue boxes sometimes...until much later when I realized there were marker arrows.

But what I thought she did was get a ride back up to where she knew there was a marker and start over again. But I don't think they showed enough to be sure.
And I still don't know whether or not that would have incurred a penalty.

I think she got a ride to where she would have come off the trail if she had followed the trail the way she should have.
Penalties get given when they are told to travel on foot and they use something other than feet to get to where they need to go.

Lady G was hysterical when she saw what's coming next week. She was trying to picture me in one of those gym stretchy getups.
I would have liked to see the botox twins leave. But as soon as Linda went off the trail, I knew they were history.

Yeah, that's what I figured last night. I saw them show it and said to myself, oh yeah, who is going to miss that? I mean if you see a fork in the road, you are better off spending 10 minutes looking for the marker than to arbitrarily pick one direction over the other. I also wondered about the walking instead of the paragliding.
I wonder if one did not want to do the task - like being too afraid - and the weather was fine - would one be able to walk down. If there was a line to stand in before you could get a glider thingie, would one be better off running rather than waiting. 60 minutes is not that bad going down a mountain.

I am really enjoying this season. One thing that I've noticed this year is that they are using split screens, presumably to show exactly where teams are in relation to one another. If that is the case, this is a huge improvement. Also, I don't think the WV couple could have been that much further behind the blondes since they saw them after they completed the pie challenge.

I can't remember how the clue was written - everyone did put on paragliding gear before deciding to walk. And some decided almost immediately, which made it seem like you had to go through the motions of officially hearing that the wind was too strong before deciding to walk. But I really don't know, I'm just guessing at this point. Depending how long they waited before sending teams after one jumped, I'd think if you were last in line, walking might have been a better option.
