Playing with Dolls.

#1 Post by tanstaafl2 » Sun Feb 22, 2009 9:12 am

Have been watching the new show Dollhouse from Joss Whedon. Never watched Buffy but was a fan of Firefly/Serenity despite its brief run (I caught up with it long after it had come and gone on network TV).

So far Dollhouse has been unremarkable to me. No clue how it is doing from a ratings standpoint. It got stuck on Friday nights with a lead in from the new Terminator series so I presume it is aimed primarily at adolescent males who don't get out of the house much. I pretty much fit that demo, if not chronologically then at least in spirit...

Although I must say the new Hulu commercial featuring the "star" of Dollhouse, Eliza Dushku, had a certain appeal in a bouncy, finger lickin' sort of way!

Other new shows for 2009 that I have been following include Trust Me on TNT (so, so so far) and the second season of Damages. Since I didn't see the first season of Damages I am at a bit of a handicap and may break down and look for the DVD to catch up. It has been OK so far if a bit convoluted with its time line fluctuations. That seems to be the new bit for shows, to use flash backs and flash forwards. The "Lost effect" perhaps?

New shows still on the horizon include Castle with Nathan Fillion, the murder mystery Harper's Island, the Unusuals (if it makes it to the airwaves) and perhaps Cupid although I haven't made up my mind on that one yet.

Only four more episodes of BSG so I will have to fill the void somehow...

What? No Hot Girls In Scary Places?
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

When they show up in my hot tub then that will be both hot and scary (at least for them!). And then I will be happy to watch!

A bit nippy this morning with temps in the low 30's, a howling wind with a wind chill in the teens to low 20's. But the tub was a pleasant 102 so it helps me keep warm in the arctic blast that has been winter so far this year.

I've been watching Mistresses: http://www.bbc.co.uk/mistresses/. Sure it's a chick show but it is the BBC.

Can't wait for Breaking Bad to start again.
