Can someone explain to me...

...why someone would text the single not-quite-word "thks," when all they had to do was include an "a" to give the appearance of both knowing how to spell and making it look like they weren't just dashing off a response?

Because they don't know how to spell "thx"?

I don't care who you are. That was funny right there.

Because including an "a" without an "n" would still call down the Spelling Moderator, so why not save a keystroke and let him fix it?

BTW, unless you made a typo, they needed to add both an "a" and an "n".

Because they don't do vowels??

Of course they also dint do all the consonants either. They missed a AND n

I wish I could help with an explanation but I am a devout non-texter.

I don't have any splanation for your Q.

I like one-word texts. I got a text primary election night saying Who.

I texted back CandidateA.

Actually, I just texted back the first three letters of his last name. All info was asked and answered in less than a minute. I see why people are such fans of texting.

Because what you did for them was not worthy of an entire word.

They think it sends the message "I'm so busy that I don't have time to type out two additional letters, but I value you and the message you sent me so much that I will take a little bit of that precious time to respond to you."
