My migraines aren't any worse than a regular headache pain-wise, but they do wonky things to my vision.

I feel very fortunate to never have experienced any sort of migraine.

Hope it doesn't get too bad, and goes away soon!

I've also been lucky enough to have never had migraines. My best friend does, and I feel terrible for what she goes thru.

For many folks what they have associated with migraines are called scintillating scotomas.

You have my sympathy, as I've been struggling with that recently myself. Fingers are crossed for a speedy end to the evil headache!

The visual phenomenon dissipated before I drove to work, but I've had this mild headache just under the surface all day.

The wonky things with the vision are actually a blessing for me.

Because when I do get migraines, the pain is worse than a normal headache.

But the wonky vision thing (aura, as the symptom is called) happens to me about 20 minutes before the pain sets in.

So as soon as I get the aura, I pop two Aleve, and I'm good to go.

I didn't get them until I was in my 30's. I blame having kids!

My migraines are like having an ice-pick stuck in half your head & constantly twiddled around, but my vision, during these experiences, is just fine should I choose to use it, rather than being in a dark, quiet room waiting for the migraine drugs to kick in.

I think only a small percentage of migraine-sufferers see the auras- or whatever it was that Tan called them!

My migraines are related to hormonal cycles, such as I still have residuals of them. Women's hormonal-cycle migraines rarely come accompanied by auras. And Aleve would do me as much good as popping M&Ms.

I have learned to recognize a "migraine might be coming on" sort of general malaise feeling, but I'm loathe to take those strong migraine meds until the pain is actually here, & I'm sure of it. I try to catch it at the "almost here" phase, to avoid the killer pain. Some of them do go away, 2 days later, without the killer pain, so I'll continue to avoid the meds until the pain gets worse.

I thought vision problems were caused by engaging in some OTHER activity...

Nah, that's an old wives tale. I think what you really get is hairy palms.

My migraines are definitely a stabbing pain generally located over my right eye. Aleve wouldn't touch
my migraine. No auras or vision problems associated with mine at all. However, a dark room and
complete quiet are pretty much required.

I think I had a few migraines in my 30s because I had the wonky vision thing -- the auras -- and no pain.

This is not to make light of the pain so many migraine sufferers experience, quite the opposite in fact. I know it's debilitating.

I had one of Cal's low-grade headaches a couple weeks ago from a diet drink sweetened by Equal. It was so good! -- tasted just like an orange Popsicle. Never again. . .

Mine started in my 30s.

The dull headache mentioned above was the warning/precursor to finding a cool, dark place ASAP, otherwise I was going to lose vision in one eye pretty darned quick as well as spending several hours trying to dig the dreaded ice pick from my skull.

They put paid to my flying days, which had good and bad sides.

The trigger then was some serious stress in the personal/professional life at the time which both, thankfully, are past.

Now, however, I am susceptible to them with the triggers being red wine, cheese, and chocolate.

Why go on living...?
