50,000!

I missed 45,000, not because of any fault of LB’s, I hasten to add. He gave me plenty of warning. So I’m gonna make up for it here.
What am I doing here?
First, I wanted (and want) to be a Millionaire, and I recognized the Bored as a help to get on the show and as an even bigger help if I ever got on the show. I joined up in March of 2000. Hey! My anniversary’s coming up!
Then I started to make friends. I let people think I was a guy at first because I was wary of how women could be treated on message boards after the idiots over at the then-pretty-much-unmoderated sports boards, but it was just as much fun to talk about sports with BDM and OkiePat even if I wasn’t a guy. BTW, I just picked the 68 out of a string of numbers that the ESPN board suggested when it informed me that SportsFan was already taken. I thought I could remember it, that's all -- it was Jagr's Pens number, and that worked.
Then PamJB came along with the QoD. That sort of idea, coupled with the growth and fun that come with people coming up with ever more creative and fun games ideas, even if I didn’t play them, and all heading toward the best statement you can make at the end of the day – “I learned stuff!” Timeline, GenderDefender – Thanks, Taurus! – TBOTS, FNGD, LS, Seven Clues
, ST2N, FT2N, LPS, DoA . . . there must be more, but I can’t think of ‘em…
I miss people – Snail, Aussie, Barb, Amaz, ScrabbleTed, Corn, Oldernow, Macs, Toeth, Ging, Linus, DrJ, CabbyJoe, Dunadan, Puppie . . .
I don’t actually miss PaleRider so much, it’s been a long time since he’s been around, but I miss the idea of PaleRider because he’s one of the people I got to meet face to face, and I treasure every other face to face meeting (especially GoLO!) I’ve ever had (I think I’ve met 26 BBs) and hope to meet more of you – including some four-footers. Except ES. If he counts as a four-footer, not a crazed psychopath with a little drawing talent.
Anyway, it all adds up to a place that’s made a difference for me, and where I’ve made a difference, and where I feel at home.
And I still Want To Be A Millionaire.
