WWTBAM Bored

I have just about had it with the drama of my life!!

On top of everything else, I ended up in the ER on Tuesday, after passing out at home (I think)...I woke up on the bathroom floor (no, I was not drinking or taking any other substances) and figured it was a good idea to get checked out. After many hours I left "against medical advice" after 2 CT scans, 1 ekg, full bloodwork, and one MRI...deciding that they were either incomptent or that they liked my robust insurance plan, when they ordered a 2nd MRI! The first one was clean, so they wanted to "dig". I say, it was probably just dehydration/exhaustion, since the bag of fluids and a few hours of laying down made me feel all better. Now they're stalking me to come back for the MRI! Back off!!

I'm ready to be one of those people that just packs up my car and relocates without a plan or anything. How do they do that? Or is that just on tv? Anyone need a roommate???

Sheesh, where were those kind of caring doctors the last time I had a stone and had to wait months before they'd finally do something about it (And some wonder why I hesitate to call the doctor this time....). Maybe I just don't have the robust insurance plan.....

That's the thing, when I really think something is wrong, I get nothing. When I think it's something minor, they're all over me. They wouldn't feed me either. My first "meal" came at around 5 pm, 2 packets of saltines (2 each) and a 4 oz carton of apple juice!

I'm feeling better but super tired, I think it's just the emotional effect of it all.

If I ever wanted to really lose weight, all I'd have to do is check into a hospital for a few days. I'd take the saltines over some of the junk they tried to feed me when I got a 36 hours stay 5 years ago.....

But this does bring up a good question for the Bored doctors. I'm sure the CT scan, the MRI, the EKG, etc. etc. are all wonderful diagnostic tests that are invaluable in many instances.

What is the proper diagnostic test for dehydration?

I'm packing up my PODS and at the end of the month will be unemployed and homeless. That assumes that my new job in Phoenix hasn't gotten itself together yet. I have the resources to wait though.

I'd ask you to join me but I have enough drama in my life and don't need yours added.

Check kidneys for presence of stones.

If stones are present, patient is probably dehydrated, and has been for years.

Cut off Pepsi supply.

Yes, it was a contract. They cut down the hours though. I hated the job so am not sorry to have it end.

Hahaha I was wishing for House!! And wondering why I had just some lab tech doing my MRI and CT scan, instead of large groups of hot young doctors, like on House. Do doctors ever run those tests? That's now a complaint of mine about that show!! Not realistic!!

I think that once the bag of fluid got in me and I was no longer dizzy or headache-y, that meant something? No? Apparently there was some perceived difference in the size of my pupils that contributed to the extensive testing. Well that and I was "being difficult" by "moving my eyes repeatedly" when they put a bright light 2 cm from my eye...

Yeah, quit being a tease. I couldn't even entice you over to Christmas dinner and I should think that I could get you to move in with me?

I had a spell of getting dizzy and passing out a few years ago and the basic thought of my doctor was that breakfast shouldn't consist of a handful of meds washed down with a pot of coffee. Maybe you need some animal protein to go along with your Greek yogurt instead of a bar.

Since #1Son joined the Air Force, I have a spare bedroom. It even has its own bath! How do you feel about small dogs and large cats?

I liked OK! Well the one time I was there there were ridiculous tornadoes, like 150 or something in OK and TX. I admit I hid in my hotel bathtub for a while. Of course I was on the 15th floor or something so not that smart, but I felt better.

I'm feeling the warm wishes all around, and yes, being on the Amazing Race would totally lift my spirits!!

Yeah, so what do they know? Only I don't take any meds to dilute the coffee. Maybe that was your problem...

Checking for orthostatic hypotension might be helpful and a wee bit cheaper than the other tests...
