Answers & Points - Lyrically Speaking - 2/19/09

Today's Theme Thursday is dedicated to one BB in particular, though I'm betting that like all of my other games that were written with certain BB's in mind, the one this one goes out to will probably not play it. Oh well, such has been my luck this year....

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, 3 points for the theme....

1. Something 'bout you
Right here beside me
Touches the touched part of me like I can't believe

2. So let's get to the point
Let's roll, another joint
Let's head on down the road
There's somewhere I gotta go

3. I have waited a lifetime, spent my time so foolishly
But now that I found you, together we'll make history

4. What's your name? Who's your daddy?
(He rich) Is he rich like me.
Has he taken, any time.
(To show) To show you what you need to live.

5. I want you
I want to feel you by my side
I need you
Don't you know I need you baby

6. Did you think I would stand here and lie
As our moment was passing us by
Oh I am here

7. Something in the moonlight catches my eye
The shadow of a lover goes dancing by
Looking for a little bit of love to grow

8. Comin' to ya on a dusty road
Good lovin' I got a truck load

9. I can feel it coming adrift
Even a blind man could see the rift
From an ocean liner to a Chinese Junk
There ain't been a ship that can't be sunk

10. Yes is the answer and you know and you know that for sure
Yes is surrender you got to let it, you got to let it go

11. Where do we go from here now that all of the children have grown up
And how do we spend our time knowin' nobody gives us a damn

12. Now first it wasn't easy
Changin' Rock & Roll and minds
And things were getting shaky
I thought I'd have to leave it behind

Theme?

Do you mean the pattern of starting one title with the last word from the previous, or are you talking about the BB you had in mind? Since they're all about love, relationships and dancing, you must be thinking of clem!

Half-assed vagueness to follow...
1. Something 'bout you
Right here beside me
Touches the touched part of me like I can't believe

Familiarish

2. So let's get to the point
Let's roll, another joint
Let's head on down the road
There's somewhere I gotta go

A Tom Petty song that I don't know the title to. "You don't know how it feels to be..something else I don't know...*sigh*)

3. I have waited a lifetime, spent my time so foolishly
But now that I found you, together we'll make history

Feels Like the First Time, Foreigner

4. What's your name? Who's your daddy?
(He rich) Is he rich like me.
Has he taken, any time.
(To show) To show you what you need to live.

Time of the Season....Zombies?

5. I want you
I want to feel you by my side
I need you
Don't you know I need you baby

Nope

6. Did you think I would stand here and lie
As our moment was passing us by
Oh I am here

Kinda sorta familiarish. Or not.

7. Something in the moonlight catches my eye
The shadow of a lover goes dancing by
Looking for a little bit of love to grow

Give a Little Bit of Heart and Soul? Some one-hit wonders that sound ABBA-esque.

8. Comin' to ya on a dusty road
Good lovin' I got a truck load

Soul Man, Blues Brothers and someone else

9. I can feel it coming adrift
Even a blind man could see the rift
From an ocean liner to a Chinese Junk
There ain't been a ship that can't be sunk

I probably know this. What wretched lyrics! I bet it's from the 70's and I have it on a CD somewhere or saw them in concert....(Now that I have the theme, Man on Your Mind by the Little River Band would fit the string. I'm not totally sure of the lyrics, but I DO have their greatest hits CD!)

10. Yes is the answer and you know and you know that for sure
Yes is surrender you got to let it, you got to let it go

Mind Games? John Lennon

11. Where do we go from here now that all of the children have grown up
And how do we spend our time knowin' nobody gives us a damn

Games People Play, .....Alan Parsons Project?

12. Now first it wasn't easy
Changin' Rock & Roll and minds
And things were getting shaky
I thought I'd have to leave it behind

Play That Funky Music, White Boy, Wild Cherry.

Theme? I see I've been typing some words twice, so it appears the last word of the song turns into the first word of the next song.

Now I'm curious which BB it refers to. Clem thinks it's all about him, but there's no Captain Jack in here. :P To Live Is To Fly has a name that kinda strings along, and Fanny's avatar has an unending task in it.

I'll say it's about you and your damned fake streak! :P

I was looking for a bb that could be tied to the song titles, instead of realizing that the theme itself was a tribute.

I'm Going To California And Sunflower's Making A Stop In Nevada - Free Joel
Theme?
Spoiler
So in conclusion, Billy abandons his daughter for fishing, attempts to fight all the world's ills, dates a murderous woman, dates a prissy but hot uptown chick, dates a frightening dominatrix, wants to have sex with a prostitute, wants to have sex with a fiery-eyed latina from Herald Square, wants to have sex with an invented woman who is based on a guy (!), wants to be appreciated in Florida when New York City explodes, sobs his brains out 'cuz a girl left him, moves out in an overly showy manner, and goes to Nevada.

Thus the theme is clearly:
Billy Joel Is A Crazy Motherfucker.

Just like me, Captain Jack.

That is all.

Do you mean the pattern of starting one title with the last word from the previous, or are you talking about the BB you had in mind? Since they're all about love, relationships and dancing, you must be thinking of clem!

Half-assed vagueness to follow...
Now I'm curious which BB it refers to. Clem thinks it's all about him.
Mini, it is always about me. Even Esto agrees. He's very cute.
