Life in the Fancy House

This week I'm house- and pet-sitting in the Fancy House. It's a 7,000 sq. ft. home designed in the Frank Lloyd Wright style. Beautiful and clutter-free!

Thanks to bored-ers who answered my question about Jacuzzi tubs and bubble bath, I brought from home my Fancy Bubble Bath Recommended by Oprah. I also brought my own candles.

The tub filled in 3 minutes. At home, to fill my tiny tub takes 15 minutes. Longer if someone turns on the water in the kitchen or flushes a toilet.

Everything was ready and when I went to get in, I noticed ... the tub plug LEAKED! And it was an annoying water-down-the-drain sound.

A $4,000 tub and a broken stopper.

So today when I stop by my house, I'm getting my $1 Rubbermaid drain cover.

I hear that Caress Evenly Gorgeous is a good product - in lieu of the bubble bath, not the drain stopper.
But does it come in a fancy glass bottle with pretty stopper, thus justifying a $30 price?

Or is it packaged in a recycled cereal box and come in a gallon container.

CEG comes in a translucent peach plastic bottle for $3.78. You may not like that, but I'd rather have "the best," no matter what the price.

Many of these (squirrel) migrations were probably caused by food shortages as well as habitat overcrowding. We solved that for them. We not only reduced their habitat, we reduced the whole species by about 90%. The least we can do now is share a little birdseed with them.

The cats here already enjoy the tub.

But only when it's empty.

Of course, dimmzy is free to pour that into an expensive cut-glass bottle.

Be careful with those around the jacuzzi, dimmzy! :)
Fortunately, there's a 6-inch wide marble ledge around the tub. Perfect for glass bottles and wine glasses!

Not so good when you're trying to get OUT of the tub. I flopped over the edge like a tuna with a hook in its mouth. Fortunately the floors have radiant heat.

How's the counter and equipment storage space? Our million will go toward a new house where half the first floor is the kitchen and the other half is the dining area. Still won't be enough room in the kitchen for GW, though. The Jacuzzi-for-two will be in a sunroom/balcony off the master bedroom, overlooking the ocean from our hillside dwelling.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

I said toward! I didn't say it would pay for all of it. Besides, we have an architect friend who will draw up the plans in exchange for some GW-made chocolate chip cookies and some GS-purchased single malt.

Beef on weck.

It's actually a regional (Upstate New York) favorite. I can't believe how many people have never heard of it.

I will have yogurt and an apple for dessert.

Then I have some errands to do ... go home and check my mail, grab the chocolate martini mixer (I can't believe I forgot that!!!) and my swimsuit for the outdoor jacuzzi (can't believe I forgot that either, although I wasn't planning to use it until Thursday night anyways when I have some pals over)

-- dimmzy, who will be making some pasta-spicy sausage-and-escarole thing I saw in a Wegmans supermarket ad. I think the escarole makes up for the sausage. And I will buy REAL parmesan, not just the Kraft stuff. I DO have a house to live up to!

The 'weck' in the Beef on Weck is a 'Kimmelweck' role - IIRC - it's a hard role with caroway and large salt crystals (its been decades since I last had one ;-().

The standard Beef on Weck - is lots of Roast Beef on the aforementiond Kimmelweck role and severed with either beef gravy or beef juices from the Roast Beef. Often served with white horseradish as well.

A local prime rib restaurant, the Red Osier, has decided to enter the fine world of packaged foods and now they have 1 pound of roasted, thin sliced roast beef available in local markets. As a result, the supermarkets are now stocking kimmelweck rolls, which I have NEVER seen before. It's best served with German potato salad and dill pickles NOT chips.

That sounds really delicious. I doubt seriously I could get anywhere close to what you described here in Mississippi. Maybe in New Orleans. I love horseradish.

Me too! Got any good stuff, the type that sets your orifices running, even those from which nothing is supposed to emanate? The stuff you get around here is pathetic. Gold's? Feh!!

My mother used to make it herself for Passover. One cousin and I would take anything left over after the seders, which was usually several canning jars' worth. I think the two foods I miss more than anything else because of getting older is Mom's homemade horseradish and my Bubbe's homemade gefilte fish. Not because I got older, but because the makers did.

The stuff around here doesn't meet your standards, although it does mine. Denver, that's another story. My (theoretical) Science PAF's hubby handed me a $10 bill when we were headed to the grocery store and explained exactly where to buy the correct horseradish. So it took us 15 blocks out of the way from Kroger's -- he would have sent us out again if we had come back without it.

I don't allow glass of any kind around my whirlpool tub. I have some high quality acrylic stemware
I got from Williams Sonoma which we also use by the outdoor pool. It's just asking for trouble to have
glass of any kind around water and bare feet.

I agree! And at home I use a couple of nice acrylic glasses too. Here, well, the glass will just land on the Oriental carpet surrounding the tub. :D

Now, back to my movie. I had to figure out how to use the "control tower" in the room NEXT to the movie theat-tah, but I got it eventually. Didn't know if I was going to watch a movie or blast off.
