I've always thought that Buckner got a bad rap. I remember watching that 1986 World Series, and I myself put most of the blame for that collapse on Calvin Schiraldi (or however you spell his name). The Mets had already tied up Game 6 off Schiraldi by the time Buckner committed his error. Even if he made the play, the game would have continued into extra innings. The error certainly wasn't the blow that snatched defeat from the jaws of victory--Schiraldi had already blown the save. At least, that's the way I remember it...

Most folks think Shea Stadium was a dump.
To me, it provided many memories (mostly good, some real heartbreaking) since I was a young'n. I will miss it.

Users on the baseball-fever.com forum are reporting that the last standing structure was knocked down at around 11:25 EST...

Well, I can't say it was the prettiest venue in MLB, nor did it house the iconic ghosts that The Big Ballpark in the Bronx did, but it did host something my beloved Yankee Stadium never did:
Concerts by The Beatles.
