WWTBAM Bored

So, I had to go to Staples Sunday because, even though I didn't need anything, my monthly Staples Reward certificate was expiring that day. Since I passed Whole Paycheck on the way home, I thought of you and decided to fall on in and check out the situation.

I didn't see a newsletter but, as I strolled through the aisles, I noticed that they cut out the coupons, photocopy them and tape coupons to all the individual products. That's pretty nice of them.

I found Oikos all nice in a lovely row with $1.00 coupons taped to them! Which was pretty much the main part I found lovely. Ha! So I picked up a honey and a blueberry. I had the honey yesterday and I quite enjoyed it, but I don't know if it was because it was Greek or because I'd never thought of adding honey to plain yogurt before. Haven't had the blueberry yet but, since I'm used to blueberry yogurt, it will be a better test of whether it's worth paying 99 cents (after $1 off!) instead of 40 cents for regular old pedestrian yogurt.

I thought of you yesterday Fanny! I was in Stop and Shop and tried to get my greek yogurt. It was cleaned out!! I managed to get 3 peach and that was it. I guess because they're still on sale for $1.

You know I'm among the cheapest of the cheap bastards!!! But I find it worth it...mostly because it is WAY more filling than the yogurt I usually eat. Yoplait light is 100 calories and is basically like drinking a glass of water with a blueberry in it. Chobani greek yogurt is 140 calories and will fill me up for a couple of hours. That and a protein bar, and I'm set for 4 - 5 hours. So it's worth it to me for that reason. I also like that it's thicker and creamier.

I still haven't tried the honey, if you liked it I will try it. Your Whole Foods is much nicer than mine to put up the coupons! Although kudos to mine, I had a run in with the worker in prepared foods, he was quite rude, and the guy at the service desk responded by giving me all of the stuff in my basket for free, which was $26...I wished I had done more shopping first!

The only four varieties they had were Honey, Plain, Vanilla and Blueberry. They had one other brand, I can't remember what it was, but it might have been Chobani. I didn't check that out because it was 1.49 with NO coupon. And you know how that story ends.....

I liked the honey quite a bit, I'm now thinking of tossing of squirt of honey in my vanilla Activia. I have Activia every morning, but I get it by the crateload when Costco has $3.00 off coupons and there's no choice, you get a case of vanilla, strawberry and peach. So the vanillas get pushed to the side until that's all that's left.

Chobani comes in vanilla, strawberry, blueberry and peach in single serve and I think plain and vanilla, maybe honey, in the larger size.

Do you like pumpkin pie? Sprinkle a little pumpkin pie spice in your vanilla yogurt, it's like eating pie but good for you!

We need a Bored Commune. I don't care for fruit flavors, so I will take all the vanilla yogurt.

Of course, getting all of us to agree on which state we will all live in is an entirely different matter...........

Sometimes getting the local forecast on cable is a trick around here. I still remember the time they kept giving us the Local Forecast for Roswell, New Mexico....

Plus, I quit watching the Local Forecast when their music started sucking about 15 years ago....

The affinity for cheapness! When you buy by the case, you tend to get flavors you don't care for. The flavors I don't like, they do, and vise versa. So we pool resources and everyone gets what they like, cheaply.

I'll mail you the Fig Newtons that come in the cookie assortment, unless you want to join the commune....

You could move to Ithaca and get a place at Ecovillage, which is like a grown-up commune. We don't have direct flights to anywhere, the weather is cold, and the quality of the schools is debatable.

It's gone, and I didn't buy any more! Steve bought a box of Dentyne Ice, and he started putting some packets on the counter for me, but I told him I was quitting to save a few bucks. He left them anyway, and I thought I'd at least have some in my purse, but I did have two pieces over the weekend and it was excellently frosty.

I have a decent amount of willpower.......

Our Costco has begun carrying a 12 pack of Chobani Yogurt (4 each of strawberry, blueberry and peach). Cost is less than $1 per serving. We used to buy the local grocery's greek yogurt at around $1.50/serving. But, the Chobani while being less expensive from Costco is also zero cholesterol. Big plus for hubby.

We're on our third box in a week and a half.

Dang, I have been resisting trying this stuff.
