WWTBAM Bored

I watched an interesting flick over the weekend called Cloverfield. As my title suggests it was a meeting of The Blair Witch Project and Starship Troopers. What I mean by that is that it was filmed from the perspective of one of the actors with what looked like a hand-held camera. And, the story line was akin to Starship Troopers although it took place in NYC. If you like this sort of flick, you might enjoy it.

Who has the time to read everything?

I wasn't implying that you should have read that the first time. I was just saving myself from re-typing my lengthy review.

I now remember seeing the header when I scanned the threads but it didn't click as I went to post my pithy review. Age does that to you.

I wouldn't have compared this to Starship Trooper, because that movie adaptation was just too dreadful for words.

I was likening it to ST in that the storyline was similar. And, I happen to like ST. Probably one of the tens who did.

I too liked Starship Troopers. Never read the novel, maybe that's why, but I loved the tongue-in-cheek element throughout. Rico was an idiot, though. Here he had a total babe who was completely into him, loved sports and just hanging out, and he's wasting time with high-maintenance Denise Richards, who, as we all learned from reality tv, is a nincompoop. And by the time he figures it out, well..you know. What a moron.

I don't see how the storyline of Starship Troopers is similar to Cloverfield.

I don't see any similarities at all.

Starship Trooper - aliens insectoids attack Earth with a meteor, Earth fights back. The principals of the movie are soldiers/naval officers that we follow through training and combat.

Cloverfield - something(s) go on a rampage in New York City. The principals of the story are partyers that get separated and try to reunite while being attacked by alien creatures and witnessing destruction.

Or am I missing something?
