What's the difference between an agent and a publicist?

#1 Post by Kazoo65 » Sun Feb 15, 2009 8:33 pm

I was reading about the octuplet mom. She got rid of her publicist and got an agent instead. Appearently, the publicist has been getting death threats-as has the octuplet mom.

This story has been all over the media. It was the topic for 2 straight days on Dr. Phil last week-he didn't think having 8 kids at once was a good idea. There is a 3 page article (with photos of the babies) in People magazine this week-the issue with the hero pilot on the cover-I guess HE got an agent too!
I'm just a game show nerd.

I think for a non-celebrity like this, a publicist would be needed to re-spin the story her way. An agent would be someone who is promoting you and trying to get bookings for you in various media.
