I've heard that song. Whoever it was that put the video with it was inspired. It was a hoot!

Well heck -- my work filter blocks JibJab (no surprise there!) I can wait till I get home to watch it, but I'm curious. What's the song???

Oh, speaking of bad Christmas songs....I always thought "The Christmas Shoes" was the worst, most horrible, sappy, depressingly bad Christmas song ever made.

Well, the Beast and young Simba were funny. The rest ... not so much.

(VAdame -- it is the 12 Pains of Christmas, with clips from Disney movies so that it appears that the characters are singing the words.)

Maybe I should start a confession thread, but . . . . . I actually like to listen to "Christmas Shoes". However, I can understand that there is a issue with having to listen to it too many times on too many stations.

Thanks -- I'll watch it when I get home! I generally like Bob Rivers & the Twisted Christmas-type stuff (especially I Am Santa Claus!), but the 12 Pains isn't my favorite.

My objection to "The Christmas Shoes" isn't that I hear it over & over -- believe me, I hated it the first time I heard it! Other than the general sappiness -- if Mama meets Jesus tonight, He's going to judge her by how she behaved in life -- not whether she's got the latest Manolos or Jimmy Choos on her feet!!!!

Yeah -- that was taken last December, but I love the pic. Look what they did to my poor little Nativity Figures!

The little yellow guy -- Little John -- is now a young man cat (well, a neutered young man!) -- but still cute as can be. We found him out by our back steps last year -- his feral Mom had wandered off with another kitten & never come back for him! Weenie is the calico -- she took one look at the poor little fellow & adopted him. Literally -- she did everything a mama cat could do except nurse him!

Now for the Rest of the Story: Weenie & Little John are really Karen's kitties -- and 2 days ago, she moved them to her new apartment! So we've gone from being a 4-cat household to a 2-cat household this week --
and wow, does it seem empty :? But she says they're settling in well & are enjoying exploring their new home (after hiding under the bed for a few hours!) Wonder how their gonna do in a month when the baby comes

I'll let Earendel or someone else address the "Jesus/God judgment of works /how one lived her life" assertion.

You are not the the first to somehow imply that the song is about the mother trying to impress Jesus, which I do not understand.

The song is from two points of view: first, the man who was moved to help the child, and then the child. It makes perfect sense that a young child would want his mother to be beautiful, espeically since she cared mroe about taking care of him than herself or her appearance. Jesus didn't care how she looked, but the child did. The mother did not want the shoes. The boy wanted his mother to finally have something nice for that next part of her life.

It may be that I like the song because I could see my son doing something like taking all of his money and wanting to buy something for his mom that she would not buy for herself.

We are a four cat household. A tortie mama and her two babies (an orange tabby male and a torie female just like mama) adopted us four years ago. The fourth came after taking care of a neighbor's cat when they moved away. They took so many months to ask for him back that we were smitten and asked to keep him.

Finally got to watch the video -- pretty good! As I said, 12 Pains isn't my favorite Bob Rivers Twisted Christmas Song -- but that wasn't bad at all. The images really helped!
