WWTBAM Bored

We don't do stupid Hallmark-y stuff for Feb. 14, but we do use it as an excuse to splurge on fancy food we wouldn't ordinarily get. Tonight's menu

Bacon-wrapped grilled teriyaki shrimp, some with fresh pineapple wedges, some without
Teriyaki Rice with veggies
Coldwater lobster tails, steamed with drawn butter
Snow crab legs
Shrimp cocktail, to use up the rest of the shrimp

and for dessert, Malt Shop fondue, with strawberries and bananas as the dippers. Found the recipe in my slow cooker cookbook.

Now to watch Hamlet 2 on DVD.

I'll clean up your kitchen if I can have some leftovers...

Caesar Salad, I make a great CS dressing

Strip steak w/ chicago steak seasoning

Fingerling potatoes

Worsteshire glazed mushrooms

Grilled Chicken for D1111 as she is not much of a red meat eater

And I was trying to be polite, since I already had my dinner before I read this thread.

Now, if I had read it a little earlier, I'd have chosen your menu, since I'm not really a seafood fan.

Hamlet 2 is a somewhat funny movie from the producers of Little Miss Sunshine

The last 20 minutes are the best, since that is the show that the high school director writes and produces. The way they can have a sequel is that Hamlet uses a time machine to travel back in time to change history and save everyone from being killed. He also enlists the help of Jesus, which is where the big production number "Rock Me, Sexy Jesus," comes from.

It is not for the easily offended, and, honestly, not all that funny, either. There were a couple of scenes that made it not a complete waste of $3.99.

We ordered our favorite pizzas.

We tend to give each other silly cards -- with bad puns, etc.

And set up the spare BR for the mattress delivery. Get the room ready for my return from the hospital.

Right now, Witness for the Prosecution is on public TV. I am not sure I can stay awake for it.

I always had a soft spot for Marlene Dietrich because THFD got to see her headline a USO show during WWII.

Valentine's Day dinner will be next week sometime. Wife is working. 28 year-old Daughter had tonsils out Thursday and is at her home being pampered by hubby while we (tonight that being 15 year-old granddaughter and me) watch 4 and 7 year-old grandchildren.

So tonight was hamburgers, broccoli, and Kung Fu Panda.

Actually, I rather enjoyed Kung Fu Panda.

Zachary wasn't very impressed either. I suppose if you'd have been there I would've had to deploy the airplane trick for you, too.

Actually, Zach downed the broccoli without any airplanes. He just figured out that he was not going to have a very good view of Kung Fu Panda (which was going to start with or without him at 7:30), if he was still sitting at the dinner table. Oh, that and the fact that his sister was rubbing his nose in the fact that she had already earned her popcorn by consuming the broccoli with no fuss.

I forgot to mention the popcorn, which was served during Kung Fu Panda.

I actually like broccoli myself. Green beans, squash, creamed corn and carrots are my kryptonite. Cabbage I like in an egg roll, or raw red cabbage in a salad mix. Otherwise, no. And the smell of it cooking makes my tummy do very unpleasant things. Spinach and peas I can tolerate, Broccoli, Cauliflour and peppers I love. Non-creamed corn, too, but that's kind of a cheating vegetable cuz of the starch factor.

I guess the thrill is gone for the bunch we had for dinner. The only Valentines in sight were a few red-wrapped candies some of us had picked up at work.

We had country pork ribs slow-cookered in barbecue sauce, mashed potatoes, and asparagus sauteed in olive oil and fresh basil.

I had just one single friend that was around last night while all of our married friends did whatever it was that they were doing. He and I went grabbed a late meal here. We also enjoyed plenty of scenic views (which, according to the menu, are free of charge.)

We had dinner at a friend's house.

We did not do it because it was Valentines Day, it just happened to be a Saturday all four of us had free.

Sting wrote me a letter that made me cry and has made everyone I read it to cry as well.

A good kind of cry.

I didn't even get him a card.

He seemed not to care.

You weren't included in the "Sexiest Cover Girls" show. Don't fire off your e-mail to E! just yet, though, as you were featured in the "Sexiest Beach Bodies" show which aired an hour earlier.
