Opening Night Report

Tonight was opening night of our community theatre's production of Cheaper by the Dozen. I play the father, Frank Gilbreth, Sr.

We had about a 1/2 full house. The show went fairly smoothly. The only 2 times that it seemed obvious that there was floundering for lines onstage were both mine. Of the 12 kids in the cast, I believe only 1 of them had ever done a show before. The woman playing my wife is also a first-timer.

They all did great.

Now, if that old hack playing the lead could just remember all of his 312 lines, the play would be just snaky.

aww, that sounds like an amazingly cute and fun thing to be doing, with all those kids on stage, based on so warm a book.,and the old guy playing frank sr. is no doubt an excellent paterfamilias.

Great report!

Is 1/2 full on opening night a good thing, a normal thing or a bad thing?

Now - go memorize your lines!

Kinda normal, which is disappointing when you have a stage full of kids. In theory, a show with kids is supposed to draw much better.
