Jacuzzi Tub Question

Hi! What beter group to ask about luxury appliances than a group of wannabe millionaires?!

Next week, I am pet-sitting at what I call the Fancy House. Let's just say it's big enough so that you CAN play ball in the house ...

Anyhow, they have a wonderful Jacuzzi tub in the (Italian marble tile) bathroom overlooking the (manmade) waterfalls. Now I do NOT like using Jacuzzis -- the foaming bothers the pets there and they DO insist on watching -- but I'd love to use bubble bath or something like that WITHOUT turning on the jets. Is that possible? Bath oil?

This is a jacuzzi style tub in the bathroom, not like a jacuzzi that always has water in it, correct?

I have a jacuzzi tub and yes, you can use bubble bath or oil, just like you would in a regular bath tub (pour it into the water while running). If you want to use the handy dispenser, you will need to turn on the jets. If you do use the jets, make sure the water is covering them completely, or there is a risk of burning out the motor and/or spraying water all over the bathroom.

PS I hate my jacuzzi tub because it is a pain to clean the jets. Big time.

Correct. They do have an outdoor Jacuzzi too (overlooking their putting green) I will be using that too, but not with bubble bath.

You'll just want to clean out the jets after using it, to get the soap residue out. While it's still wet and fresh, just roll up a paper towel and swab out the inside. If you don't do that you have to get a thin bottle brush to scrub it out later, not fun!!

It's a pain to clean. They are usually very deep and you have to get down inside the tub to
properly clean it. I had one in my other house I never used for that reason, plus it takes
40 gallons of water to fill the thing. I have one in this house I have never used for that reason.
My kids like to use it and the rule is "If you use it, you clean it!"

Most Jacuzzi tubs have two separate controls - one controls the pump flow and the other controls air intake. Usually the air intake is a rotating knob - it does just what you'd expect - allows air into the pumping system. Open the air intake up and you get lots of bubbles, close it all the way down and bubbles will be minimal, even if you have added some form of bubbles.

Tub oils can give you the different scents without all the bubbles, but watch yourself when you get out of the tub - it's slippery.

We hardly ever use our Jacuzzi - I can't stand the slight vibration of the pumps - makes me ill. It was a big hit (and a special treat) when our kids were little. Add water and bubble bath, dump in some children and open up the air intake - kids disappear (but you could still hear them) They got clean too!
