Shit.

A Continental Express (actually Colgan Air...) flight has crashed near Buffalo....and it's bad. Shit. Two good friends are regular commuters to BUF. One would likely have been on that plane but he stayed overnight in Newark to go look at a boat for sale nearby. The other one is a single mom, and a totally cool chick. From the reports, it appears that there was at least one extra crew member on board. There are lots of BUF commuters...it probably isn't my friend, but I am nervous.

There is live coverage on the cable news networks. Good luck to all, especially to your friends, MMFF.

It's only a small consolation at this point, but my friend was not on board...the passenger totals and pass riders were still accessible on the employee site, and she was not on board.

They're saying no survivors. There were 44 passengers and 4 crew en route from Newark to Buffalo. Possibly one killed on the ground. My condolences to everyone who was affected.

I guess I should update my avatar, but I kind of like that view better than what's there today. After my neighbor's burned out house just sat there boarded up for a year, some investor from Dallas finally bought it and tore it down. Now they're building a McMansion next to me (on a 50' wide lot). The crews arrive early each day and start banging on stuff to wake me up. At least they're working fast. The Tyvek wrap is done and the windows were installed today. My house and yard used to have some privacy, but now that's gone. I'll have a monstrous building looming over me and I'll need to reassess my window treatment requirements.

I'm glad your friend wasn't on the plane, MMFF; condolences to the families of everyone who was and of those who were in the house that was hit.

Unfortunately, every airplane crash doesn't turn out like US Airways Flight 1549. :(

MMFF, while I'm glad your friend wasn't aboard, I think I understand what you feel as colleagues perished in the same duty as you.

I lost some friends and colleagues in an E-3 crash in Alaska some years back.

It brings it very close to home.

RIP to the passengers, crew, and ground fatality.

My thoughts go out to all involved. I still have a number of close friends in Buffalo and the area and this type of news is always very sad.
