Judd Gregg out as Commerce Secretary

NH Republican Senator Judd Gregg has withdrawn his name from consideration as Obama's Commerce Secretary, citing "irresolvable conflicts" over Obama's handling of the stimulus package and the Census Bureau.
If you appoint someone as a Cabinet Secretary, that should mean that you trust the person's competence and integrity. I wouldn't blame Gregg for being ticked off when Obama immediately thereafter tries to take control of the Census Bureau (which by law is entrusted to the Commerce Department, not the President directly).
In a few months, there's going to be a whole lot of other people wanting to get as far away as they can from the Obama bus wreck, er, administration.

Buffacuse, every American should be pissed at Obama's naked political power grab.
The Census determines the electoral vote. It is used to determine federal funding.
Oh, and it also is Obama yet again spitting on a promise he made. Promises to be bipartisan...seems to follow up by appointing as Republican to his Cabinet...only to strip away one of the most important functions of his department. To put in charge of the Census a blatant partisan- Rahm "Here's a Dead Fish" Emmanuel.
It is NOT to be politicized.
Have Obama's first three weeks truly convinced you that he's "the change we need"?

In other words, Sen. Gregg forgot that he's a Republican.

Just like Obama forgot he promised a new atmosphere in Washington, right?

Last week:
GOP Sen. Judd Gregg (N.H.) on Wednesday offered public support for the Obama administration's stimulus package, one day after the fiscal hawk was nominated as Commerce secretary.
"I've been supportive of a very robust stimulus package since day one," Gregg said during an appearance Wednesday morning on CNBC. "The only group that has liquidity around here is the federal government."
AP, yesterday:
In a statement, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs says it was Gregg who first "reached out to the President" and offered to be commerce secretary.
Gibbs says the Republican senator made it "very clear throughout the interviewing process" that he could "support, embrace and move forward" with President Barack Obama's agenda, despite "past disagreements about policies."
In the statement, Gibbs says it became clear after Gregg was nominated that he could not support some of Obama's "key economic priorities." At that point, Gibbs says, it became necessary for Gregg and the administration to "part ways."
Judd Gregg: "Change" we can believe in.

He didn't promise that- Obama did.
I'm sure Gregg appreciated the "change" of Obama planning to make the US Census completely political by having it stripped away from his oversight to Rahm Emmanuel's.
Anything to get the "sampling" method in there to shore up the illegal immigrant vote!

Regardless of the blatant illegality of Obama's attempted action, it's a huge slap in the face to Gregg to turn around immediately after he is nominated and essentially announce that you don't trust him to run an honest census.
Just another bit of political roadkill underneath the Obama bus.

Imagine if the outcry-if Bush had tried to place the Census under Karl Rove.

Actually, Obama DID trust him to run an honest census. THAT WAS the problem. THAT WAS why Obama wanted to move it to the White House.
This is not hard to understand, just hard to swallow.
