Question about the Bored itself

I was looking to save the wedding blogs along with comments instead of just the entries alone. When I go to "Print View", then right click to try to save that view, I see that I can save it into Excel but not Word. Is that a quirk of my computer or of the "print view" screen? Excel seemed an odd choice of program for saving.
I suppose I could just print them out, but that would take a LOT of paper. I was a busy boy with entries, as you all were with responses.

Hmmm. I never tried that "Print view" link before now, but all it appears to do for me is display a simplified view of the thread, with the Author, Subject and message body, but without the rest of the graphics and other bells and whistles for the selected Bored interface. At this point, I think it's up to your PC and your browser software to control how that's printed or saved to a file.
If you don't actually want to print it all on paper, I'd suggest saving these threads in PDF format. There are free add-on programs that let you print to a PDF file, just like you were printing to paper.

The problem is that I don't get a "save as..." option. The only way to save the "print view" is to export it into another program, and the only option I get there is Excel. It's a real pain to select and save each and every post in a thread individually. If you don't want all the graphics and peripheral stuff, that's the only way I've found to do it.

Maybe a dumb suggestion from a mostly non-technical person...can you just highlight it all and cut and paste it into word. You'd have to do one page at a time, but at least it wouldn't be one post at a time?

What about "save as" from your browser window itself? File/Save As.
This saves the pages to your hard drive exactly as they appear from the server. The only drawback I know of is that on multi-page posts, the "next page" or "2, 3, 4" links will still refer back to the next/other page on the server. Once you have the html for both (or all) pages of a post on your machine, you should be able to edit the html references to point to your machine rather than back to the Bored, but that depends on your desire and tech-boldness. It would involve finding and replacing all references to a bored page with references to the pages as you've stored and named them on your machine.

Do you have the Print option under the File menu of your browser? The utilities I mention will appear just like another printer, so you just select printing to that, and then the utility creates the file from whatever you see in your browser.
doPDF is one of those utilities, as discussed in this link:

gasbc: I think that Marley's suggestion is the best way to go.
CutePDF (
direct download link) is one example of a free program that will let you do this. Once installed, all you do is open up the Print View of a topic, go to File --> Print in your web browser, and then select CutePDF as your "printer". It will prompt you for a file name and a location to save the file. With that done, it will save that page into a PDF file, which is easily viewed with the
free Adobe Reader (
direct download link). The only drawback I can see is that multi-page threads would require you to save each page as a separate file.
I'm not even going to mention the part about how I had never even noticed the Print View links before, until I read this thread.

They were apparently a new feature for phpBB3 (which is what we went to when I upgraded last October.)
