I think I'll move to Canada, after reading that article in the current issue of Newsweek. They really have their shit together!

I'll have to ask Mini-me's hitting instructor. He can tell me how Vancouver compares to here. I find it hilarious that his tutor in the All-American pasttime is Canadian! I guess "North American" counts until the Blue Jays fold up like the Expos did......

I doubt if they keep their swimming pools open for seven or eight months of the year in southern BC, so the climate may not be quite the same as yours. We also have to travel across the water on the ferry, and would have to find a hotel or motel etc, so it could add up dollar-wise. My dad does have a cousin living over there, and that may be an option. I am hoping that there will be packages that are bus/ferry/tickets that will be issued closer to the games.

In 1976 when the Olympics were in Montreal my late mother had no difficulty getting inexpensive tickets for events like track and field preliminaries and early rounds soccer. She told me she never dreamt an Olympics would take place 75 miles from her house. She invited her first cousin from Scotland to come for the two weeks and Mom and Doris drove to Montreal 4 or 5 times and enjoyed themselves immensely.
Saucy I hope you too have the opportunity to see some early round events it will be an experience. I was fortunate enough to see some summer Olympic events in Montreal and four years later some winter Olympic events at Lake Placid which is only a couple of hours drive from Ottawa.

When the Olympics were based in L.A. in 1984, they had a few events that were free to the public. I seem to recall that for a few of the cycling road races and the marathon. I'd be surprised if it weren't the same for some of the longer cross-country skiing events, and other stuff like that. You should see whatever you can.

Unfortunately none of the Winter event venues are free. Unlike Summer where the marathon and some cycling are run on city street.
