There is a statewide tornado drill scheduled for Thursday. There is also a prediction of authentic severe weather on Thursday. I wonder if they will reschedule the drill to avoid a huge ball of confusion.

We are having our "drill" -- with real tornados -- this afternoon. I'm supposed to go to a rehearsal this evening in a north Oklahoma City location that has been getting drummed by severe storms all afternoon. I'm desperately hoping that the rehearsal will be postponed until tomorrow night or made up on Saturday afternoon.

Rehearsal was not called off. Nevertheless, the Norman contingent called off our participation. The heaviest part of the remaining line of thunderstorms has just arrived here with 70 mph winds. On our television screens, this is the portion that is purple and black on the radar scan.

We're all happier.

Wouldn't it simplify matters to postpone the weather?

Stay safe. --Bob

We called off Tuesday bridge a couple months ago, what with two feet of snow falling in less than 24 hours, and the rec center we play at closed.

No such bad luck today with one foot on the ground -- full steam ahead! 7N!

Kidding.

Although, if it comes up 2nite, I'll post it.

Everybody have a great evening!

I played 7NT on Sunday. Doubled, even. LHO then had the bad form to lead an ace. :( Then he led another ace.

Partner (a different partner) played 7NT when we played last night. He claimed as soon I laid down the dummy. --Bob

Gratz on the 7N (made).

Pard made 7D 2nite. Except he bid five.

He also made 7H. Except he bid four.

That's sorta how it went the whole evening. We finished last.

I've arrived at the conclusion that when playing matchpoints, if you know you have all the suits stopped, it's pretty much never a good matchpoint score to play five of a minor so when I find myself in that situation I just bid six. It doesn't always make, of course. But it rarely costs me many matchpoints when it doesn't. And when it does make, I reap a bundle. --Bob
