Nice description of punctuated equilibrium theoryandrewjackson wrote:I don't feel evolution is affecting the human race at this point. There is no natural selection so mutation will continue to occur but none of those mutations will propagate through the species since they do not confer any advantage in producing offspring.
You think so? That's not what I was going for at all. Punctuated equilibrium is still evolution driven by natural selection. I don't think that is happening to humans right now.themanintheseersuckersuit wrote:Nice description of punctuated equilibrium theoryandrewjackson wrote:I don't feel evolution is affecting the human race at this point. We would be in an equilibrium phase, as there is no evolutionary pressure now.andrewjackson wrote:You think so? That's not what I was going for at all. Hmmm. I guess I need to read up more on the punctuated equilibrium theory.themanintheseersuckersuit wrote:We would be in an equilibrium phase, as there is no evolutionary pressure now.andrewjackson wrote:You think so?
