You mean you really want to see Kate Winslet.

All of her.

Right?

Didn't we already see all of Kate Winslet? About 12 years ago?

No-and I am not lying. Altho, that might be a bonus.

I love flashback/back story type movies.

Roger Ebert has written an excellent blog column about The Reader. However, before you click on it, you should know that the first half often becomes a discussion of Ebert's general (liberal) political views, and the second half reveals major spoilers about the film. Still, if you've seen the film (or don't mind spoilers), the personal details he reveals about himself and his observations about the film are quite insightful.

I have also heard internet buzz that sympathy is building for The Reader as Best Picture as the type of "message movie" that Hollywood likes to reward.

I read most of the column-and while I do not want to accuse him of lying directly-I really highly doubt that he attends many dinner parties where there are Rush Limbaugh listeners that engage him on politics. I think he is exaggerating (A LOT) for effect.

Ebert spoils most of the movies he reviews. I have been watching a ton of movies on DVD the past couple of years, and I have learned not to read him until after I watch the movie. I still do read him, because I like to see where we agree, and he illuminates some things for me (though I think I could illuminate a few for him).

EW has an article this week about Weinstein pushing The Reader because he knows it has a lot of the little checkboxes on it that Academy voters like. OK, one big one. Holocaust stories score well with older, Jewish voters.

I also think Kate Winslet is awesome. I am intrigued by whatever scenes they filmed that had to wait until her costar turned 18.
