A warming trend is promised for the weekend, with highs in the 50s and 60s. That should get rid of the rest of the ice that is still piled up along curbs and such. It also means that elwing and I shall be clearing our backyard of debris from the ice storm.

Our new car is officially no longer new - yesterday elwing was shopping and when she came out of the store she found that the driver's side mirror had been broken off its mount and was dangling by the cords that connect the mirror to the automatic adjustment buttons on the armrest. She has duct taped it back in place so that it can be used, but it's an annoyance. Whoever did it left no note, not even one saying "Everyone thinks I'm giving you my contact information..."

Whoever was parked next to her and pulled out may not even have realized they did it, and they'll wonder where they got the scratch on their car. Regardless, as you say, an annoyance. They are surprisingly expensive to repair, too, thanks to all those wires. My sympathies.

Our temperatures will finally be above freezing, but not much. Won't make too big a dent in our piles of snow, or the ice rink under my car in the driveway.
