Yes, my semi-pagan friend researched it -- it was once an important pagan festival day call Imbolc, one of the cross-quarter days, whatever that means.MarleysGh0st wrote:Groundhog Day was the half way point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox, after all!

True, the earliest sunset is usually around Dec. 7 -- but the days continue to get shorter because the sun rises a bit later every day until early January. The December solstice occurs when the sun reaches its southernmost point in the sky (from our perspective, looking from Earth!) If you want to see how the sun's position in the sky changes throughout the year, check out some analemma pictures.littlebeast13 wrote:MarleysGh0st wrote:Groundhog Day was the half way point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox, after all!
But the sunsets have been getting later for 2 months now, not just since the winter solstice....

Yep. She gives this lame excuse about how cold it is on the winter solstice. Which it is, there's no denying it.Ritterskoop wrote:Follow-through is a bitch sometimes.SportsFan68 wrote:
