One Mom story to share

My mother always worried about everyone else and tried her best to treat everyone
good. She made friends with everyone - complete strangers, her kids friends, neighbors
and yes, even her doctor. She had a female doctor for the past 10 years or so, and my mother
loved her dearly and had to have her doctor's approval before she would even take a Tylenol.
She had photos of her doctor's grandchildren on her mantel in the living room. During the last
week of Mother's life, I spoke with her doctor twice a day when she came on her rounds to the
hospital. She even mentioned how it was difficult being objective with her treatment since my mom
was a friend as well as a patient.
The doctor came by Mother's room Friday after she passed away. She shed a few tears with the
family and she leaned down and kissed my mother on the cheek. I think I cried harder then than I
did when I saw my mother take her last breath. It was just a reminder of how my mother
treated everyone, including her doctor.
