Here's Something To Discuss...

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Wed Nov 28, 2007 9:04 am

We haven't come up with a pet name for this Bored yet.

We had the PRoG, Love Boat, and TUB, but apparently no unofficial name for this Bored has caught on yet....

Suggestions?

I like Tub-a-something.

PHP always makes me think of Pizza Hut Park, home of the hated FC Dallas.

And I do mean "hated". I wish I could emphasize that more.[/u][/i]

The Thunderboard. Which will make no sense to anyone who was not a Wasson High School Thunderbird.

The fight song was a love fest for the tuba player. The only time the poor tuba player had any glory and got to be all sexy and stuff with the bad ass tuba riff in the song.

You never heard the Thunderbird Fight Song! It's funny, I was just asking my nephew the other day if the fight song was still the same one and I 'bum bum bummed' the tuba line for him. "Yeah, that's still the same one."

PS Which cat is that? It makes me think of Giulia and now I'm a little sad.

It is fun to imitate tuba sounds. It is funny that he knew it right off the bat.

Oh, that is Nero, Giulia's son. Thanks for feeling sad. :)

This may be too cutesy to work, but here's my reasoning:

Even though Dave had a lot to do with setting this one up, and I don't think we have too many members with the expertise and the wherewithal to set a PHPBB up, to name it exclusively after his handle would be to deny the efforts of the two Bobs and others who saw the end coming.

This Bored was the result of a lot of different folks trying to make sure we had a place to convene after the demise of our most recent habitat.

It has also attracted a lot of my favorite old regulars back into at least occasional posting, so it feels more like home than that other place ever did.

It should be a more permanent home than those Boreds with nautical references in their unofficial names.

It's more easily defensible to "attacks" than our previous homes, thanks to the self-motivated moderators.

I'd call it an Island.

You would know why he would know it if you knew it, it's quite distinctive. I'll have to ask Mark if he can find it somewhere on You Tube or if any of his My Space friends have it on their page.

Rich Gossage went to Wasson, but I doubt they played the fight song at baseball games. There is a guy playing for the Houston Texans (I think) that went to Wasson, he would probably know it. Quick, get Houston on the line!

Nero is an absolutely perfect name, unless it's just the picture. I love it when animals suit their names, personality wise. I didn't even know that Giulia had babies, so I'm sort of like a grand-godmother!

"Houston, this is Tuba Island. We need some guy on the phone that can get us an MP3 of the fight song for the Wasson High School Thunderbirds"

lolol

Yeah, Nero definitely suits his name, and vice versa.

His siblings were/are: Phantom (had a mask over his face) and Gabriella. Neither live with us. Gabriella went back to the woman who found Giulia in the first place! Giulia and her siblings were dumped on her doorstep, but she didn't have the space to keep them at the time. She later moved to a large house, where there was plenty of room for a new kitty.

*edited to add: AWWW, a grand-godmother!!
