Soccer trips
I might be going to Hawaii in February.
It looks like the Houston Dynamo will be playing a tournament there against teams from Australia and Japan. The details will be announced on Thursday.
I've never been to Hawaii and this seems like a good excuse for a vacation. I'll have to wait and see on the cost and the exact schedule.
I'll post more when I find out more.

We went in 2006, and we're still talking about it. In fact, we asked the kids last night where they would go on vacation, if they could go anywhere in the world. They all answered Hawaii, without hesitation.
I hope you get to go. I think you'd love it.

The eclipse in 2017 in Wyoming better be darn good.PlacentiaSoccerMom wrote:Jeff and I went in 1991.
In high schol we talked about going in 1991 to see the eclipse.
We got married in 1989 and went on the trip.
We were on Maui and it was cloudy, so we really didn't get to see anything. The people back home in California had a better view.
OR I'LL SUE SOMEBODY!!!!!!!!!!!

They have announced the schedule for the Pan-Pacific Championship 2008 .
Wednesday, February 20
Gamba Osaka (J.League) vs. Los Angeles Galaxy (MLS) (6:00 p.m.)
Houston Dynamo (MLS) vs. A-League representative (8:30 p.m.)
Saturday, February 23
Third-place match (6:00 p.m.)
Pan-Pacific Championship Final (8:30 p.m.)
Those times are local in Hawaii so add 5 hours for EST.
The A-League team that Houston will play first will be the 3rd place team from the Australian playoffs. Their championship game is Sunday, February 24 so the top two teams won't be able to play in this event.
Gamba Osaka won the J-League's Nabisco Cup which is a tournament played among the teams in Japan's highest level league. They don't have playoffs in their leagues. The top team at the end of the regular season is the league champion. Gamba Osaka is currently in 3rd place in the Japanese 1st Division with only one more game in their regular season.
The LA Galaxy finished in 11th place in MLS this season. They get to go because they have David Beckham.

I would move to Wyoming to vote for you for Governor!!!!
This is the best idea I have heard in months. Excuse me for turning into a blithering idiot, but just thinking about a chance to vote for someone with intelligence, common sense, class, straight arrowness, leadership ability, listening ability, writing ability, talking ability . . . did I mention common sense? has me speechless. (OK, not speechless.......)

OK. The Dynamo have their opponent in the first round of the CONCACAF Champions' Cup. We open up against CSD Municipal of Guatemala in March of 2008.
This is the tournament to determine the club team championship for North America. Last year Houston lost to the eventual champions, Pachuca of Mexico, in the semifinals.
Houston will be playing in Guatemala City on March 11, 12, or 13 with a game back in Houston the following week.
Question: Do I want to go to this game?
Pros: This is an important tournament and while we've been in it the last two years we may not get this chance again for a while.
Guatemala has some interesting sights that I've never seen.
Cons: It's expensive. Air tickets look to be about $500. Local expenses shouldn't be much but getting there is going to cost a lot.
I might not survive. Municipal is not the worst environment in Central America for visiting fans but its not very good either.
I could go to the tournament in Hawaii in February, skip this trip, and hope that we advance because the next round of the CCC could be played in Cancun.
Decisions, decisions.
