top o' the mornin'®

Rivendell is still powerless but we are not at a shelter - our two sons sharing an apartment have taken us in for the time being. It's cramped but it has heat and power. There's no way to know how much longer the electricity will be out, but my guess is we won't get it back until Wednesday. That's based on the fact that it took 8 days last September when the wind storm knocked it out. I'd love to be wrong, but as of this morning there are still around 100,000 people in the greater metro area without electricity.

The trivia contest that I had hoped to attend on Saturday was cancelled, as were church services on Sunday so there really wasn't much to do for the weekend.

Hang in there. Camping (indoors) is better than your own bed but freezing (also indoors!).

Some of my Louisville friends posted something (elsewhere than here) recently, which implies they have electricity to post with, but you never know these days; wifi might be more reliable than the power cos. Gotta check on them.

No power=no WiFi. A cellular modem might work though.

I kinda meant "if they don't have plug-in power in their house back yet, they may have trucked to a place that does have power, with WiFi". Of course, they could have trucked to plugged-in terminal in a computer cafe, too, but their message looked like it came from their normal address. (I imagine there are people out there with WiFi nodes in their houses, so as not to have to mess with plugs, but I know my friends aren't these people.) Point taken, though.
