It was nice of LB to allow me to host today's Retro Monday game in honor of our great victory in the Super Bowl last night, which I think I actually participated in.... though I didn't get all the honor and glory deserving of a Baby Boy. Oh well, it's all good!

What's more appropriate on this Groundhog Day than bringing back one of LB's classic LS games for Retro Monday and playing everyone's favorite game: Does DaveSenior Really Remember This One Or Not? Bill Murray would be proud. Today we bring back another gem from the December 2004 game, and one which contains a staple of my older LS games that LB did away with in last year's contest..... the Theme Song. Today's game has a bonus song at the end which should help you to get the theme of this game....

Today's Retro Monday game was originally posted on Thursday December 30, 2004....

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, and 3 points for the theme....

1. All I made was one mistake
How much more will I have to pay
Why can't you think it over
Why can't you forget about the past

2. Harry got up
Dressed all in black
Went down to the station
And he never came back
They found his clothing
Scattered somewhere down the track
And he won't be down on Wall Street
in the morning

3. take it to the bridge, throw it overboard
see if it can swim, back up to the shore.
no ones in the house, all the lights are on
and the blinds are down.

4. Hi guys, by the way, are you aware you're being illegal
It's making your savior behavior look evil
'scuse my timing but say,
how d'you fit in with this flim, flam and judy

5. How can I help it if I think you're funny when you're mad
Tryin not to smile though I feel bad
I'm the kinda guy who laughs at a funeral
Can't understand what I mean? Well, you soon will

6. Wake up and I see that my sista was already dressed
She said I'm a run and go get in my stanze watch
And make sure no one snatches my check
Thinkin' that tha mailman sort thru tha mail
And put it up inna me pockets

7. Some dreams are in the night time
And some seem like yesterday
But leaves turn brown and fade
Ships sail away
You long to say a thousand words

8. Every generation
Blames the one before
And all of their frustrations
Come beating on your door

9. Friends say it's fine, friends say it's good
Everybody says it's just like rock'n'roll
I move like a cat, charge like a ram
Sting like a bee, babe I wanna be your man
Well it's plain to see you were meant for me, yeah

10. Some say that we are players
Some say that we are pawns
But we've been making money
Since the day that we were born
got to slow down (slow down)
Before we fall down

Theme Song:
Well, if friends with their fancy persuasion
Don't admit that it's part of a scheme,
Then I can't help but have my suspicions
'Cause I ain't quite as dumb as I seem.

Theme?

Well, from my exceedingly paltry number of responses, I am going to guess that "Periods of Time" is the theme.

see if it can swim, back up to the shore.
no ones in the house, all the lights are on
and the blinds are down.

It's Squeeze, but I can't remember the title

how d'you fit in with this flim, flam and judy

8. Every generation
Blames the one before
And all of their frustrations
Come beating on your door

In the Living Years, Mike and the Mechanics

9. Friends say it's fine, friends say it's good

How Long Has This Been Going On,.....................Ace? I think....

Theme?

All the ones I have (all three! Oh, boy!) have a period of time in them. The theme song must be by Ace, and he's taping his watch!

1. All I made was one mistake
How much more will I have to pay
Why can't you think it over
Why can't you forget about the past
Second Chance - .38 Special

2. Harry got up
Dressed all in black
Went down to the station
And he never came back
They found his clothing
Scattered somewhere down the track
And he won't be down on Wall Street
in the morning
New York Minute - Eagles (I remember there was something of a discussion the first time I posted this game about whether this was an Iggles or Henley song, or both. I'm pretty sure I already had the Phil Collins rule in place for my 12/04 game, so it didn't really matter...)

3. take it to the bridge, throw it overboard
see if it can swim, back up to the shore.
no ones in the house, all the lights are on
and the blinds are down.
Hourglass - Squeeze (Fun song and a great video!)

4. Hi guys, by the way, are you aware you're being illegal
It's making your savior behavior look evil
'scuse my timing but say,
how d'you fit in with this flim, flam and judy
Election Day - Arcadia (Yes, Estonut, this has been used already. The one problem is, and I forgot to mention this in the rules as I had intended to, I don't cross-check my Retro games for already used songs, because it would be extremely difficult to do so and not have to change multiple other games. I am also pretty much picking these on a week-by-week basis. Another song from this game will be making a second appearance in a future game.... be ready!!!)

5. How can I help it if I think you're funny when you're mad
Tryin not to smile though I feel bad
I'm the kinda guy who laughs at a funeral
Can't understand what I mean? Well, you soon will
One Week - Barenaked Ladies (I am totally the kind of guy who laughs at a funeral, so I'm down with this song...)

6. Wake up and I see that my sista was already dressed
She said I'm a run and go get in my stanze watch
And make sure no one snatches my check
Thinkin' that tha mailman sort thru tha mail
And put it up inna me pockets
First of tha Month - Bone Thugs and Harmony

7. Some dreams are in the night time
And some seem like yesterday
But leaves turn brown and fade
Ships sail away
You long to say a thousand words
Seasons Change - Expose

8. Every generation
Blames the one before
And all of their frustrations
Come beating on your door
The Living Years - Mike & the Mechanics

9. Friends say it's fine, friends say it's good
Everybody says it's just like rock'n'roll
I move like a cat, charge like a ram
Sting like a bee, babe I wanna be your man
Well it's plain to see you were meant for me, yeah
20th Century Boy - T-Rex

10. Some say that we are players
Some say that we are pawns
But we've been making money
Since the day that we were born
got to slow down (slow down)
Before we fall down
Millennium - Robbie Williams (An old classic from Mecca Radio. They had a Robbie Williams fixation for some reason....)

Theme Song:
Well, if friends with their fancy persuasion
Don't admit that it's part of a scheme,
Then I can't help but have my suspicions
'Cause I ain't quite as dumb as I seem.
How Long - Ace

Theme? - Units of time increasing in length (I awarded full credit for just units of time, but gave an extra JJC point to everyone who noted that they were increasing in length.

Melo, DaveSr, KT, Panic, Fanny, and Estonut got a JJC point for giving the full theme...

Saucy got 2 JJC points for the Tommy Phelps answer.... and I have to admit it took awhile before I was able to figure out the reference!

TBone got his usual JJC point for humor. Clem, did not.... and no, I still haven't listened to Captain Jack! I couldn't if I wanted to because for the time being, my computer is completely silent since I have no speaker....

Estonut got an additional JJC point for Worst Song of the Month....

You couldn't pull the Squeeze song last time at all. This time you at least knew they did it.

And DaveSenior was the only one who knew the Robbie Williams originally I believe. I remember this stuff.....

Actually, I thought I got Robbie Williams the first time around as well.
