James Harrison has made Super Bowl history by intercepting the ball and returning it 100 yards for a TD.

Score is 17-7 at halftime.

My prediction is still alive!

I think that was the play of the game, despite ESPN's assertion that it was Holmes's catch.

Harrison doesn't have any blockers, and he picked up blockers! It was amazing. Then he fell on the other guy to keep his knee off the ground whilst he put the ball in the end zone.

I am pretty sure there was a block in the back on that run back that didn't get called and might have changed the course of the game although even if Pittsburgh didn't score it was still a blow to the Cards to miss that scoring chance. I suspect that the play simply left the zebras behind and so no one was in position to make what seemed like a pretty obvious call. There was also a face mask penalty against the Cards called on that play so don't know what effect a second flag might have had. Might have even been offsetting and resulted in another chance for the Cards to score although with the change of possession it is a bit murky to me what the correct ruling would have been.

Not to take anything away from Harrison who made an incredible effort on the return.

It was a shame the officiating had so much impact on the game. Some poor calls as well as no calls by the officiating crew. Looked like for the first three quarters they were taking their cues from the officiating crew in the last super bowl Pittsburgh was in as Pittsburgh had only two penalties against until well into the fourth quarter and seemed to be getting most of the breaks. If it weren't for the challenge flag the Cards would have been in even worse shape thanks to the refs. But it was interesting how the game got closer when the calls finally started going against Pittsburgh in the fourth quarter...

Looked to me like two reasonably well matched teams otherwise despite the claims of many that the Cards wouldn't be able to stay in the game. But in the end the have to give credit to the Steelers for making that final drive when they had to. The Cards had every chance to win inspite of the officiating and couldn't pull it off.

I couldn't always hear the commentary on the game but I thought I clearly heard one of the announcers say that if the review of the interception/touchdown had denied Pittsburgh the touchdown then the half would have been over. Wasn't there a penalty on Arizona on the play? If the ball had been spotted inside the one, the penalty would have been enforced at the end of the play and Pittsburgh would have gotten one more play.

Am I missing something here? Or did I miss the announcers correct themselves?

I heard something like that as well from an explayer commentator, but he dint sound definitive as to whether the Cards had become the defensive team post pick.

Also, Larry FITZ ran out of bounds for 30ish yards before reentering the field of play around the 15.I dint think that was legal.

I don't think there is a rule about tacklers doing that except on kick coverage.

No one is clear on the matter as to whether Pittsburgh would have gotten an extra play or not, or whether what Fitzgerald did was legal or not.

Perhaps Perreira will clear that up in his last post-game review on NFLN this week (although I suspect Fitzgerald coming from OOB won't even be mentioned).
