Hunt actually was elected in large part due to voter dissatisfaction with the Democratic primary, which resulted in the runner-up being declared the winner by the state Democratic Party. Later, he was convicted of state ethics law violations, which under Alabama law, resulted in his automatically being removed from office. He subsequently received a pardon and ran unsuccessfully for Governor again.

It was all about "crossover" voting in the primary. Alabama was pretty much a one party state up until
this happened. Guy Hunt was just a Primitive Baptist preacher and an Amway salesman when he ended
up as Governor of Alabama. No one ever dreamed he would end up winning.

How does one go about applying for an impeachment pardon? And more importantly, how much does it cost?

I was living in Opelika at the time - Hunt was the first governor I remember, since I remember his election and its relative surprise.

You lived in Opelika? We were probably neighbors, since it's not all that big.

I forget the name of the first road I lived on - but I wound up living outside of town, toward an area called Gold Hill.

I know exactly where Gold Hill is...and yes, it is a bit outside the city, but getting closer now that
things have built up some. I've moved to Auburn since then, but may actually be closer to Gold Hill
now.

Is there a street called Cambay Court in Opelika? Because I think I lived there as a kid, too. I remember the neighborhood all had Indian names - Calcutta, Delhi, etc. I am not sure why I knew this when I was seven. It could have also been in Jackson, MS, though.

I think the road we moved to was called Sedgefeld Rd, which was a more well known road with a new name once it got out in the county.

My aunt and uncle still live in Auburn, on Woodfield Dr.

The church I attend is at 1010 India Rd, just a mile from my old house! I know exactly where that is.

Woodfield is a beautiful old neighborhood in Auburn with some very nice homes.
