Absolutely true! Back when it started, and there was no "official" Terrible Towel, I had a homemade one. I took a gold hand towel and appliqued Steelers Terrible Towel on it in black letters. It was more of an antique gold than the yellowy Steelers gold, but it worked! Don't know what happened to it.
