Went to an Oprah show taping today

I went to see a taping of the Oprah show today in Chicago. I was never able to get tickets through the phone reservation line, but signed up for tickets on her website and got the call a few days ago. The show was about following up on prior guests interviewed by Lisa Ling. Lisa must weigh about 100 lbs soaking wet, but not Oprah. Oprah had on a beautiful black dress with sequins down the front making it look like a necklace. When we got to our seats, the audience warm up person said to check under our seats for a .... brand new..... pen. 2 of the pens had red stars and those people got a gift bag. Nope didn't get the star. Another person flew in from California just for the show and said she was going to the Oprah store afterward to buy her husband an Oprah tie to wear as the auctioneer for her school fundraiser. The warm up person said how about I get you an O magazine and have Oprah sign it to auction off and get you a tie for your husband. Darn wish I had thought of that. The follow up guests were the heroin family and the polygamists. I was surprised how Lisa held her own with Oprah and didn't kiss her you know what.
I am surprised at how many people fly in to Chicago just for the show.

I went to the Oprah store after the show and saw the Oprah closet boutique. She sells her worn clothes for the angel network. The sweaters and skirts were 200$ and up. The sizes were all very small, but the clothes were so beautiful. Noone is allowed to try them on and no returns. The reason is that you get to buy an outfit worn only by Oprah.

I would love to see an Oprah taping while I am still alive.

How wonderful that you got to.

Let's see how we can make it happen ... Do you have an incredibly messy and cluttered home? Do you have an embarrassing medical condition that no one has (yet) asked Dr. Oz about? Have you been fighting with your next-door neighbors for the past 20 years? Are you a fan of Joan Rivers, Clint Eastwood, Mariah Carey? Do you have a little-known business about to go global?

There you go! WE CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN!

I can personally come and clutter up your home

Would they allow you in the audience if you were dead?

Well they allow you to vote in Chicago elections if you're dead so why not?

Just keep checking her website for last minute ticket reservations and email your request. The show also has "hotel" standby tickets. A few hotels in Chicago have tickets for the show so check with the concierge when you make your hotel reservations. The parking lot across from her studio charges $25.

Great information!

I think it will be easier to get Oprah tickets in the future once people realize that she has STOPPED giving out cars and Favorite Things. She now has authors on her show and won't even give out the book! Ellen and Martha give out more now; Rachael too.

Okay, so maybe I need to rethink how I say that. I am not a fan of "to do before I die", so I changed it to "while I am still alive".

Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks for the tips.

When it (my desire) moves up the list, I will start taking actions to make it happen.

I want to get to Crater Lake first.

You are so right. Before the show started, 4 people from the new Oprah store came out holding a gift bag and starting talking about today was the first anniversary of her store, everyone got giddy. We all thought we were going to get free stuff from the store. Each person from the store was holding an item and they were dressed in workout gear from the store. Then one of the woman said we have a big surprise, check under your seats.... and we all thought yippee, free stuff. Yeah, the pen was free, but only 2 people got a gift bag.

No Favorite Things extravaganza any more?

I went to Crater Lake on my honeymoon. I should have thrown her in.

I intend to get SteelersFan there someday. Hopefully no one will be of a mood to throw anybody else in.

It's just a hole in the ground filled with water. Oh, there's an island too.

Let me guess, Judge Crater presided over the wedding? That should have been a huge red flag.

LOL! That's like describing the Godfather as a movie about second- and third-generation immigrants adjusting to life in the States.
