Apparently, business at "breastaurant" franchises like Hooters is booming, even in this down economy. New ones are opening, and existing ones are raking it in:

Martin Shellist, an employment lawyer with Shellist Lazarz, is representing a 22-year-old college student who applied to be a server at Hooters in Corpus Christi but was rejected because he’s a man, according to the lawsuit.

“He doesn’t want to be a Hooters Girl. He just wants to be a waiter,” said Shellist, referring to the women in orange shorts and tight shirts who serve food and drinks to customers, occasionally breaking to twirl hula hoops.

Hooter's has had employment issues in the past but has managed to keep its servers all female. In 1991, the EEOC had an investigation of their hiring practices. Hooter's turned it into a publicity battle and some members of Congress wound up having the Labor Department drop the investigation. In 1997, there was a class-action suit by some men in Chicago. Hooter's wound up settling the suit and opening up non-server jobs to men.

Question I have for where I live is will a Ruby Tuesday succeed where a Pier One failed?

I never understood why Pier One would come here in the first place (and I passed on doing the loan on the building for a local investor). Ruby Tuesday just opened this week and I have my doubts about them succeeding also. I have eaten at Ruby Tuesday and was not overly impressed.

I think the breastaurant would work pretty well here as most of the females already have the flannel shirts.
