is celebrating Jackson Pollack's birthday. That's not my favorite style of art.

Pollack's paintings don't reproduce well. In person, when you can see the texture of all the different layers of paint, they are rather fascinating. Besides, since he was born in Cody, Wyo., he was nearly one of your neighbors.tlynn78 wrote:is celebrating Jackson Pollack's birthday. That's not my favorite style of art.

I have never seen any of his work in person. I'll withhold judgment, esp. since he was a neighbot.Pollack's paintings don't reproduce well. I know what you mean.peacock2121 wrote:I don't get Pollack's art.
I used to say it wasn't art.
You can drink a beer just as easily sitting in a baseball dugout or standing on the sidelines of a football game as you can sitting in a bowling pit or golf cart or standing around holding a pool cue.Ritterskoop wrote:I know what you mean.peacock2121 wrote:I don't get Pollack's art.

There are certain athletic endeavors I am not certain are "sport," though I don't deny the people involved are athletes. A guy at work says if you can drink a beer while you do it, it isn't a sport. So
poker
stock car racing (except maybe road courses)
golf
bowling
spelling bee
billiards/pool
not sports.
ESPN can show whatever they like, as the E stands for Entertainment. But a lot of them are not sports.
I think he means holding the can in your hand while you play the game.WheresFanny wrote:

This is false. sailing is a sport and drinking is allowedRitterskoop wrote:I know what you mean.peacock2121 wrote:I don't get Pollack's art.

Hard to hold a beer in your hand while playing golf. You can hold one in between playing much as you note for baseball or football so it must be a sport! Wouldn't hurt my game much if at all if I held a beer when attempting to swing (except I might spill the beer which after all is alcohol abuse) but for most people it would likely prove to be a hindrance.Ritterskoop wrote:I think he means holding the can in your hand while you play the game.WheresFanny wrote:

A friend sent me this link that enables you to create your own Jackson Pollock style painting. Use your mouse to aim the drip. Left click to change colors.andrewjackson wrote:I don't like all of his stuff but I like the one that Google is showing.
Not because of the technique but because I just like looking at it.
What different directions? Everyone knows that, in NASCAR, there are only left turns.silvercamaro wrote:I love the different directions this thread has taken.
Except for road courses, which were singled out earlier as being more sporting than the speedways.TheCalvinator24 wrote:What different directions? Everyone knows that, in NASCAR, there are only left turns.silvercamaro wrote:I love the different directions this thread has taken.
