Nigerian newspaper claims suspect transformed into a goat

#1 Post by bazodee » Fri Jan 23, 2009 4:45 pm

LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) - One of Nigeria's biggest daily newspapers reported that police implicated a goat in an attempted automobile theft. In a front-page article on Friday, the Vanguard newspaper said that two men tried to steal a Mazda car two days earlier in Kwara State, with one suspect transforming himself into a goat as vigilantes cornered him.
The paper quoted police spokesman Tunde Mohammed as saying that while one suspect escaped, the other transformed into a goat as he was about to be apprehended.

The newspaper reported that police paraded the goat before journalists, and published a picture of the animal.

Police in the state couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

Seems to me the paper quoted the police, who are the ones claiming the transformation.

I am eager to see such a transformation, actually. Or is it transmogrification? I Have to go look that up but I never get a chance to use it.

.

Just use 'animagus' - it's easier to spell.

I've never been to Nigeria, but I have lived in a 3rd world country, and I have absolutely no trouble believing that the police officer utterly believes this story to be true.

If this sort of thing caught on among the criminal element in this country, that would be a good thing for law enforcement, particularly with the use of trained police dogs. The dogs could easily outrun and apprehend the goats, while goats rarely are known to shoot at or otherwise harm the officers, canine or otherwise.

True, but those suckers can chew their way out of anything.

Bears, however, would be a problem due to Second Amendment provisions.

I'm tempted to quote the scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail ("She turned me into a newt!") but the fact that they can believe this is just too sad.

In my last email from the Minister of the Interior for Nigeria, he told me that if I would help him get his funds out of the country, he would give me detailed instructions on how to turn anyone I don't like into a goat.

If the criminals in this country were really smart, they'd figure out how to turn themselves into squirrels. I have it on reliable authority that no dog is a match for an evil squirrel.
