I believe I've mentioned that there have been a lot of meetings going on among the leadership of the district (division chiefs, district commander, etc.) and up the chain as far as the headquarters in Washington. Now some of the information is beginning to trickle down - there is an expectation that our division (one of 8 in the continental US) could be given somewhere between $1B and $5B in economic stimulus funds. Of that amount, the bulk will probably come to us as the "flagship district" in our division. Considering that last year we obligated about $1.4B, we are talking about a significant increase in workload - anywhere from double on up. We have several vacancies at this time (several people chose to retire at the end of the fiscal year and several others at the end of the calendar year) and even if we were to fill those vacancies it would take time for the new employees to get up to speed. It promises to be a busy year.

I hope there'll be better accountability than with the money given to the banks.
