Making a run down to the Big Easy

#1 Post by lilclyde54 » Fri Jan 16, 2009 4:55 pm

The Baboo and I will be pulling out and heading down to the Big Easy tomorrow morning. I am playing in a Millionaire Maker Video Poker tournament at Harrah's New Orleans this weekend. This tourny is a quaifier for the big Millionaire Maker national tournament. The top 10 scores qualify for the national one that pays a million bucks for first place. I expect about 500 of us got the invitations so a 1 in 50 shot isn't too bad. Plus, I get an upgrade in weather. They are predicting 14 degrees here tonight. They are predicting 67 in New Orleans on Sunday.

Enjoy the weather, and may you have great cards dealt your way!

Well, I did get home safe and sound. Nothing all that great to report. I did eat some fried alligator yesterday. It was all right but not as good as the fried shrimp and crawfish that shared the platter with the gator. Had a medium sized score in the first round in the tournament but came up waaay short of anything that would get me into the money in the final round.

Stayed out way too late for a old guy both nights so I was pooped when we got home last night. The Baboo took about as a big a hit to the pocketbook as I did so there was no joy in the gambling department. The rooms at the new Harrah's hotel are very nice so at least we were very comfortable when we were in the room. The only thing I consistently won at was regular poker. I cashed ahead in the poker room both nights. Unfortunately, I lost that and more out on the other tables. One fun thing was teaching The Baboo's sister how to play roulette. We were all playing together and managed to win about 30 bucks each. We got way more entertainment than that though just laughing at each other.
