Latest College FB Polls (11/25)

#1 Post by BackInTex » Sun Nov 25, 2007 3:49 pm

Kansas has 1 loss, to the #1 team in the nation, #3 at the time they lost.

LSU has two losses, one to a then #17 and currently unranked team, and to a team who was and still is unranked.

VA Tech has two losses, albeit both the then ranked #2 teams.

Georgia has two losses, both to unranked opponents.

Ohio State, one loss to an unranked opponent.

Yet Kansas is the lowest ranked. The polls are stupid.

Ohio State lost to Illinois which is ranked.

I see three ultimate scenarios

Title Game: WVU and Missouri

PAC 10: USC, ASU or UCLA
SEC: Tennessee or LSU
ACC: VT or BC
Big 10: Ohio State
Big 12: Missouri
Big East: WVU
At Large: Georgia
At Large: Kansas
At Large: Hawaii
At Large: Arizona State if they beat Arizona. Would fit nicely into Fiesta bowl in Tempe. If Washington beats Hawaii, then slots would open for both ASU and Illinois. If ASU wins the PAC 10 (which means USC loses and ASU wins then ASU goes to Rose Bowl and Illinois gets BCS berth).

Title Game: Ohio State vs. Missouri

PAC 10: USC, ASU or UCLA
SEC: Tennessee or LSU
ACC: VT or BC
Big 10: Ohio State
Big 12: Missouri
Big East: WVU
At Large: Georgia
At Large: Kansas
At Large: Hawaii
At Large: Probably Illinois to fill Rose Bowl. If ASU and USC both win, USC would get PAC 10 slot and ASU would be highest remaining team not slotted for BCS bowl with Illini right behind. But committee would figure that people don't want to see a rematch with USC and ASU. And Illinois would preserve a Big 10/Pac 10 matchup. If Washington beats Hawaii, then slots would open for them both with ASU going to the Fiesta.

Title Game: Ohio State vs WVU

PAC 10: USC, ASU or UCLA
SEC: Tennessee or LSU
ACC: VT or BC
Big 10: Ohio State
Big 12: Oklahoma
Big East: WVU
At Large: Georgia
At Large: Kansas or Missouri - I would give nod to Missouri for head to head win, but you never know.
At Large: Hawaii
At Large: Probably Illinois to fill Rose Bowl. Same as above.

Pretty sure Illinois was not ranked when they beat Ohio St and became ranked primarily because of that win. They may have been ranked briefly after beating Wisconsin but then lost it again after losing to Michigan.

Yes indeedy, that can certainly seem that way although in the final BCS Kansas does stay ahead of both Va Tech and LSU. It is all about what have you done for me lately.

It does seem a bit odd that Missouri, last week behind WVU, leap frogs WVU for a win in a game that nearly all the prognosticators said they were going to win anyway against a team that all the so called experts said was over rated to begin with. Of course WVU doesn't have much in the way of quality wins either.

My limited understanding is that the problem with Kansas is not their one loss, but that their wins are not against quality teams, most of them.
