One of the last of the old-school, for sure. Too bad.Sonny Werblin, a horse owner and the former owner of the Jets, so respected Hirsch that he asked him to watch over quarterback Joe Namath after the Jets drafted him out of the University of Alabama in 1964. Hirsch and Namath roomed together for the next several years.
