R.I.P., Joe Hirsch

Longtime executive columnist for Daily Racing Form, as anyone who even glanced at that publication's back page (and, later, page 3) could attest.

As well:
Sonny Werblin, a horse owner and the former owner of the Jets, so respected Hirsch that he asked him to watch over quarterback Joe Namath after the Jets drafted him out of the University of Alabama in 1964. Hirsch and Namath roomed together for the next several years.
One of the last of the old-school, for sure. Too bad.

Oh my, I better get my eyes checked -- I thought you said Judd Hirsch!

I'm not familiar with Joe, although I am familiar w/ his former roommate -- but RIP anyway.

I'll have to mention this fact at my Tuesday bridge game to a mutual friend of ours.
