A Clark County grand jury indicted Randolph this week. The indictment charges Randolph with killing his 57-year-old wife, Sharon Clausse Randolph, and a man he hired to kill her, Michael James Miller. Police say Randolph staged a home invasion in a plot to kill his wife for insurance money.

That almost sounds like an episode of Dragnet where Joe Friday goes undercover as a hired killer. The guy who hires him wants his wife killed, but his plan is to hide in the house while Friday is "doing the job" and then after he believes Friday has killed his wife, he then plans to shoot his hired killer to make it look like he was breaking up a burglary, thus killing 2 birds with one stone.... offing his wife without actually doing the deed, and silencing the man he hired who could link back to him if he ever got caught.
Of course, Friday and Gannon figured it out. I loved Dragnet.....

This guy must watch too much American Justice. People try this gambit all the time, just in different variations. And, as he should have learned from American Justice, their story usually gets tripped up pretty quick.

I liked the one where they found all those teenagers tripping out and the one guy was eating his paintbrush.
But my favourite was probably the one where BIll was batching it for the night and invited Joe over and cooked dinner. Some poor fool shows up at the door peddling magazine subscriptions and Our Heroes bust his scam. You knocked on the wrong door this time, dude! As I recall, I think the scammer also assumed that F&G were a couple.

Good ones. I think the former one is the "Blueboy" episode, and the ones at Gannon's house (I think there were 2 or 3 of them) are always a nice change from teh usual...
But my favorite episode, and maybe my second favorite episode of any show ever after TZ's "The Obsolete Man", is the one where they track down the kid with the hand grenade. Ol' Gerald Paulson.

Blue Boy sounds right, because the paint he was eating was an electric blue colour.
I remember the grenade one! So much angst and DRAMA! in that one.

Blue Boy:
Incidentally, it wasn't Blue Boy eating the paint, it was one of his friends who told them where they could find Blue Boy, who of course had already OD'ed himself into oblivion.....

The blue paint wasn't an allusion? It was the same paint he used, right?
You know, my mom has some Dragnet CDs she hasn't even opened, I might have to crack the wrap on that bad boy tonight....

Well, there's no way of knowing if it was the same paint or not (I don't remember what color it was), but unless I am melding together two different episodes (And since every third color Dragnet episode dealt with kids on drugs, it's possible I am), the way I remember it is that Friday and Gannon are going to arrest Blueboy for whatever at the end of the show, and they walk in on the LSD party. They talk to the guy eating the paint, and he is coherent enough to tell them that Blueboy already left and where they could find him. When they find Blueboy, he is in full face paint, but already a goner.....
I miss the hell out of Dragnet. I probably haven't seen it since it was yanked off Nick at Nite in the mid 90's....

Now I'm wondering about the colour as well (now I'm thinking it might have been green). I'm going to have to get to the bottom of this! I'm pretty sure it was the Blue Boy episode. F&G go into the room full of stoners and there's some girl clumsily trying to climb up the wall and a bunch of pitiful looking youngsters doing other odd things. I think the guy with the paint had a Van Dyke.

If it's not on Amazon, I don't trust it as not being a ripoff or a bootleg. My mom's fave tv show is Coach (or maybe the Golden Girls). My mom had me look all over to find season DVDs of Coach, but they hadn't been released (they might have by now). Then she was all jazzed because she found the complete run of Coach on some rinky dink website. I told her that if Amazon or any of the other big boys didn't have it, then it's wasn't an official released and was probably just copied off of a tv broadcast and burned onto DVD. But she wouldn't listen to me.
Sure enough..... She really needs to start listening to me!
I"m not saying this isn't an official release, just an anecdote that has nothing to do with anything.
