Speaking of AARP

I'm waiting for the applications to start showing up in my mailbox! I'm all about the discounts. I figure as long as I'm getting the Botox come-ons, which I don't need and wouldn't use anyway since it involves a needle, I may as well get something USEFUL for being middle-aged. (Rain Man always tells me, "You're not old; you're middle-aged" when I say I'm old. He's a hoot with his literalism.)

I love the magazine.

If 50 is middle age - does that mean we are expecting to live to 100?

Well, if I do, I want my discounts so my money lasts that long!

The signs on the doors at the Outlet Mall in SC said you are entitled to a refund of 1% of your sales tax if you are 85 or older. So I have THAT to look forward to! Or I could just go to the ones in Delaware that have no tax in the first place...

But I think it's stoopid that some places set their own (higher) limits for senior discounts, instead of accepting my AARP card.

I haven't joined AARP but agree with Marley. I took a trial subscription to a Wall Street Journal publication that's full of news and tips preparatory to retirement.

What I really wish is there were some way to bring the country around to single-payer health insurance. Now don't start -- we've had this discussion before, and nobody prevailed.

I've recently got my 'temporary card' but yet to use it.

For me, the big deal was having my son email the ultrasound photos of our first grandchild (due at the end of May).
